<distribution-code display="yes">II</distribution-code><congress>117th CONGRESS</congress><session>1st Session</session><legis-num>S. 2017</legis-num><current-chamber>IN THE SENATE OF THE UNITED STATES</current-chamber><action><action-date date="20210610">June 10, 2021</action-date><action-desc><sponsor name-id="S353">Mr. Schatz</sponsor> introduced the following bill; which was read twice and referred to the <committee-name committee-id="SSHR00">Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions</committee-name></action-desc></action><legis-type>A BILL</legis-type><official-title>To increase the period of time during which an individual who has submitted a claim for benefits under <external-xref legal-doc="usc-chapter" parsable-cite="usc-chapter/5/81">chapter 81</external-xref> of title 5, United States Code, may supply supporting documentation to the Office of Workers’ Compensation Programs of the Department of Labor, and for other purposes.</official-title></form><legis-body style="OLC" display-enacting-clause="yes-display-enacting-clause" id="HDADB8C275DEB4E4FBD41A6081741A3C6"><section section-type="section-one" id="HB6096044339D413E941BF2263013F664"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Kenneth Meisel Public Servants’ Claimant Fairness Act</short-title></quote>. </text></section><section id="HB93A39D23CDB47B489A191A592E2A319"><enum>2.</enum><header>Increase in time period for FECA claimant to submit supporting evidence to Office of Workers’ Compensation Programs</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">Not later than 60 days after the date of enactment of this Act, the Secretary of Labor shall—</text><paragraph id="H4A41EB7C14974F1EB1FE08FCAEEF8EAB"><enum>(1)</enum><text>amend the second sentence of section 10.121 of title 20, Code of Federal Regulations, or any successor regulation, by striking <quote>30 days</quote> and inserting <quote>60 days</quote>; and</text></paragraph><paragraph id="HE5DBF0CACA044D33A13D7603BB2468B9"><enum>(2)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">modify the Procedure Manual of the Division of Federal Employees’ Compensation of the Office of Workers’ Compensation Programs of the Department of Labor to reflect the change made by the Secretary under paragraph (1).</text></paragraph></section></legis-body></bill>
