<distribution-code display="yes">II</distribution-code><congress>117th CONGRESS</congress><session>1st Session</session><legis-num>S. 1983</legis-num><current-chamber>IN THE SENATE OF THE UNITED STATES</current-chamber><action><action-date date="20210609">June 9, 2021</action-date><action-desc><sponsor name-id="S323">Mr. Risch</sponsor> (for himself, <cosponsor name-id="S266">Mr. Crapo</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="S373">Mr. Cassidy</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="S347">Mr. Moran</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="S375">Mr. Daines</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="S410">Ms. Lummis</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="S344">Mr. Hoeven</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="S398">Mr. Cramer</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="S411">Mr. Marshall</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="S374">Mr. Cotton</cosponsor>, and <cosponsor name-id="S317">Mr. Barrasso</cosponsor>) introduced the following bill; which was read twice and referred to the <committee-name committee-id="SSHR00">Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions</committee-name></action-desc></action><legis-type>A BILL</legis-type><official-title>To require the Secretary of Labor to report to Congress an estimated number of jobs projected to be lost due to the Biden Administration revoking the permit for the Keystone XL pipeline.</official-title></form><legis-body><section id="S1" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Defending Keystone Jobs Act</short-title></quote>.</text></section><section id="id78713AE3FDDA4D51B7EAEE0052733338"><enum>2.</enum><header>Report by the Secretary of Labor on job loss due to the revocation of the permit for the Keystone XL pipeline</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">The Secretary of Labor shall—</text><paragraph id="id5DF6E5730B8D47E38BF9B22D8F076BCD"><enum>(1)</enum><text>conduct a study to estimate the total number of jobs projected to be lost as a direct or indirect result of section 6 of Executive Order 13990 (86 Fed. Reg. 7037; relating to protecting public health and the environment and restoring science to tackle the climate crisis) over the 10-year period beginning on the date on which such Executive order was issued; and</text></paragraph><paragraph id="idF039F21212FB400C9CC87D8F9FC97B32"><enum>(2)</enum><text>not later than 90 days after the date of enactment of this Act, submit to Congress a report on the findings of the study under paragraph (1). </text></paragraph></section></legis-body></bill>
