<distribution-code display="yes">II</distribution-code><congress>117th CONGRESS</congress><session>1st Session</session><legis-num>S. 1533</legis-num><current-chamber>IN THE SENATE OF THE UNITED STATES</current-chamber><action><action-date date="20210510">May 10, 2021</action-date><action-desc><sponsor name-id="S331">Mrs. Gillibrand</sponsor> (for herself and <cosponsor name-id="S270">Mr. Schumer</cosponsor>) introduced the following bill; which was read twice and referred to the <committee-name committee-id="SSCM00">Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation</committee-name></action-desc></action><legis-type>A BILL</legis-type><official-title>To amend title 49, United States Code, to modify the definition of commercial motor vehicle, and for other purposes. </official-title></form><legis-body style="OLC" display-enacting-clause="yes-display-enacting-clause" id="H20536511F0EF4B6086113278A06BB2A3"><section section-type="section-one" id="H709270644941468882396465B4D1B311"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>End the Limo Loophole Act</short-title></quote>.</text></section><section section-type="subsequent-section" id="HE3577ADC95B04DFDA1C6BFD2F064CFF8"><enum>2.</enum><header>Commercial driver’s license requirement</header><subsection id="H9D87F6729E7649F7B1591F018350A461"><enum>(a)</enum><header>In general</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Section 31301(4)(B) of title 49, United States Code, is amended by striking <quote>to transport at least 16 passengers including the driver</quote> and inserting <quote>or used to transport 9 or more passengers, including the driver</quote>.</text></subsection><subsection id="HBC5B454818734F5F9839CA7EDA1C4E93"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Completion of rulemaking</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Not later than 2 years after the date of enactment of this Act, the Secretary of Transportation shall complete the rulemaking process and issue a final rule with respect to the withdrawn rulemaking entitled <quote>State Inspection Programs for Passenger-Carrier Vehicles</quote>, published in the Federal Register on April 27, 2016 (81 Fed. Reg. 24769).</text></subsection></section></legis-body></bill>
