<distribution-code display="yes">II</distribution-code><congress>117th CONGRESS</congress><session>1st Session</session><legis-num>S. 1485</legis-num><current-chamber>IN THE SENATE OF THE UNITED STATES</current-chamber><action><action-date date="20210429">April 29, 2021</action-date><action-desc><sponsor name-id="S307">Mr. Brown</sponsor> (for himself and <cosponsor name-id="S349">Mr. Portman</cosponsor>) introduced the following bill; which was read twice and referred to the <committee-name committee-id="SSFI00">Committee on Finance</committee-name></action-desc></action><legis-type>A BILL</legis-type><official-title>To amend the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 to include fuel cells using electromechanical processes for purposes of the energy tax credit.</official-title></form><legis-body style="OLC" display-enacting-clause="yes-display-enacting-clause" id="HE0F78329002349A7966F810B4B25263F"><section section-type="section-one" id="H63CCA086F25940A79006D81C8C37CB8C"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Linear Generator Parity Act</short-title></quote>.</text></section><section section-type="subsequent-section" id="id544980265BD7491CA4D2700E371AF85B"><enum>2.</enum><header>Including fuel cells using electromechanical processes for purposes of the energy tax credit</header><subsection id="HA7B0C792012C45A6BE27B2C6768C5D95"><enum>(a)</enum><header>In general</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Paragraph (1) of <external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/26/48">section 48(c)</external-xref> of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 is amended—</text><paragraph id="H4709EC1A939841AEB479B2AB6E5383D9"><enum>(1)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">in subparagraph (A)(i), by inserting <quote>or electromechanical</quote> after <quote>electrochemical</quote>, and</text></paragraph><paragraph id="HE6D24C55EF834A62BD386D5AE9271CF2"><enum>(2)</enum><text>in subparagraph (C)—</text><subparagraph id="H36A1D8FDC72343638578E9373D8F689F"><enum>(A)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">by inserting <quote>, or linear generator assembly,</quote> after <quote>a fuel cell stack assembly</quote>, and</text></subparagraph><subparagraph id="HDD0BD24875594BC5941232C984B6CA77"><enum>(B)</enum><text>by striking <quote>electrochemical means</quote> and inserting <quote>electrochemical or electromechanical means without the use of rotating parts</quote>.</text></subparagraph></paragraph></subsection><subsection id="H23DA7B0161D94D8BA2AB0A8F9C57D1CC"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Effective date</header><text>The amendments made by this section shall apply to property placed in service after the date of the enactment of this Act.</text></subsection></section></legis-body></bill>
