<distribution-code display="yes">II</distribution-code><congress>117th CONGRESS</congress><session>1st Session</session><legis-num>S. 1474</legis-num><current-chamber>IN THE SENATE OF THE UNITED STATES</current-chamber><action><action-date date="20210429">April 29, 2021</action-date><action-desc><sponsor name-id="S259">Mr. Reed</sponsor> (for himself, <cosponsor name-id="S366">Ms. Warren</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="S307">Mr. Brown</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="S390">Mr. Van Hollen</cosponsor>, and <cosponsor name-id="S331">Mrs. Gillibrand</cosponsor>) introduced the following bill; which was read twice and referred to the <committee-name committee-id="SSBK00">Committee on Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs</committee-name></action-desc></action><legis-type>A BILL</legis-type><official-title>To reaffirm the importance of workers. </official-title></form><legis-body><section id="idAD88853C3E064D588E602A1F042291F6" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Respect for Workers Act</short-title></quote>.</text></section><section id="id6be829787b5d4446a549e26c7c42057c" section-type="subsequent-section"><enum>2.</enum><header>Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">The Federal Reserve Act (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/12/221">12 U.S.C. 221</external-xref> et seq.) is amended—</text><paragraph id="id775D23D2392F44F08CDAD339F7B1100E" commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline"><enum>(1)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">in section 2B(b) (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/12/225b">12 U.S.C. 225b(b)</external-xref>), by inserting <quote>and distributional effect</quote> after <quote>conduct</quote>; and</text></paragraph><paragraph id="id7CF018738CF3415D96869A1879B163BC"><enum>(2)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">in section 10 (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/12/241">12 U.S.C. 241</external-xref>), in the third sentence of the first undesignated paragraph, by inserting <quote>and at least 1 member with demonstrated primary experience in supporting or protecting the rights of workers, who shall be the lead member of the Board in charge of promoting effectively and developing policy recommendations for the Board to meet the goal of maximum employment described in section 2A</quote> before the period at the end.</text></paragraph></section><section id="id2271afbb9c2849eebd0af0f0780c36a4"><enum>3.</enum><header>Applicability</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">The amendment made by section 1(2) shall apply to any appointment to the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System made on or after the date of enactment of this Act. </text></section></legis-body></bill>
