<distribution-code display="yes">II</distribution-code><congress>117th CONGRESS</congress><session>1st Session</session><legis-num>S. 1355</legis-num><current-chamber>IN THE SENATE OF THE UNITED STATES</current-chamber><action><action-date date="20210422">April 22, 2021</action-date><action-desc><sponsor name-id="S341">Mr. Blumenthal</sponsor> introduced the following bill; which was read twice and referred to the <committee-name committee-id="SSCM00">Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation</committee-name></action-desc></action><legis-type>A BILL</legis-type><official-title>To amend the Consumer Product Safety Act to strike provisions that limit the disclosure of certain information by the Consumer Product Safety Commission. </official-title></form><legis-body><section id="S1" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Sunshine in Product Safety Act</short-title></quote>.</text></section><section id="idB5E7F515DFF440ACB35BFE33DE40198A"><enum>2.</enum><header>Disclosure of information on consumer products</header><subsection id="id879C9BE7F97441B8BCCCCFAC587A4914"><enum>(a)</enum><header>In general</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Section 6 of the Consumer Product Safety Act (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/15/2055">15 U.S.C. 2055</external-xref>) is amended by striking subsection (b).</text></subsection><subsection id="id309D5DD67FE74950AC8211516925BDA3"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Conforming amendments</header><text>The Consumer Product safety Act is amended—</text><paragraph id="id493DB9C1A2E5462ABD1407E2FA6E44ED"><enum>(1)</enum><text>in section 6A (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/15/2055a">15 U.S.C. 2055a</external-xref>), by striking <quote>and (b)</quote> each place that such appears in subsections (b)(3) and (f); and</text></paragraph><paragraph id="id5E994351A94440BA8CC01952CA960CF5"><enum>(2)</enum><text>in section 29 (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/15/2078">15 U.S.C. 2078</external-xref>)—</text><subparagraph id="idC0E7BE727DE8484180A061396547D6A7"><enum>(A)</enum><text>in subsection (e)(B), by striking <quote>unless with respect to such information the Commission has complied with the applicable requirements of section 6(b)</quote>; and</text></subparagraph><subparagraph id="idBD26F78B5F3342749636909F48536164"><enum>(B)</enum><text>in subsection (f)(1), by striking <quote>subsections (a)(3) and (b)</quote> and inserting <quote>subsection (a)(3)</quote>.</text></subparagraph></paragraph></subsection></section></legis-body></bill>
