which was read twice and referred to the <committee-name committee-id="SSAS00">Committee on Armed Services</committee-name></action-desc></action><legis-type>A BILL</legis-type><official-title>To amend the Servicemembers Civil Relief Act to provide for the portability of professional licenses of members of the uniformed services and their spouses, and for other purposes.</official-title></form><legis-body display-enacting-clause="yes-display-enacting-clause"><section section-type="section-one" id="id2FFC9C87BE914DD382BA544C737CBC2B"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Military Spouse Licensing Relief Act of 2021</short-title></quote>.</text></section><section section-type="subsequent-section" id="id7d059fc170894a8c911fae110f80f221"><enum>2.</enum><header>Portability of professional licenses of members of the uniformed services and their spouses</header><subsection id="id319977495e4945948d4dfa002167e6fc"><enum>(a)</enum><header>In general</header><text>Title VII of the Servicemembers Civil Relief Act (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/50/4021">50 U.S.C. 4021</external-xref> et seq.) is amended by inserting after section 705 (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/50/4025">50 U.S.C. 4025</external-xref>) the following new section:</text><quoted-block style="OLC" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="id392F4B27258D4A6A87077EBADF643F72"><section id="id7c5056de2d5e426cbad2433e1e5b4ce8"><enum>705A.</enum><header>Portability of professional licenses of servicemembers and their spouses</header><subsection id="id99F50AB9FFD0456090CF48219300FAB7"><enum>(a)</enum><header>In general</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">In any case in which a servicemember has a professional license in good standing in a jurisdiction or the spouse of a servicemember has a professional license in good standing in a jurisdiction and such servicemember or spouse relocates his or her residency because of military orders for military service to a location that is not in such jurisdiction, the professional license or certification of such servicemember or spouse shall be considered valid at a similar scope of practice and in the discipline applied for in the jurisdiction of such new residency for the duration of such military orders if such servicemember or spouse—</text><paragraph id="id9D176C3C5EBB40359F605B98101F5972"><enum>(1)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">provides a copy of such military orders to the licensing authority in the jurisdiction in which the new residency is located;</text></paragraph><paragraph id="idD01A864C699641488BD6D680B0649635"><enum>(2)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">remains in good standing with the licensing authority that issued the license; and</text></paragraph><paragraph id="id7872DBDE41C346BBBC774760A8E90D91"><enum>(3)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">submits to the authority of the licensing authority in the new jurisdiction for the purposes of standards of practice, discipline, and fulfillment of any continuing education requirements.</text></paragraph></subsection><subsection id="id2d59fbf050254acf92a367c0328c92c2"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Interstate licensure compacts</header><text>If a servicemember or spouse of a servicemember is licensed and able to operate in multiple jurisdictions through an interstate licensure compact, with respect to services provided in the jurisdiction of the interstate licensure compact by a licensee covered by such compact, the servicemember or spouse of a servicemember shall be subject to the requirements of the compact or the applicable provisions of law of the applicable State and not this section.</text></subsection></section><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block></subsection><subsection id="id7b5a6aee885245d0a8a6605fca79cb93"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Clerical amendment</header><text>The table of contents in section 1(b) of such Act is amended by inserting after the item relating to section 705 the following new item:</text><quoted-block style="OLC" id="idf1e4402a-be2b-4d26-83e5-c841727d2b5a"><toc><toc-entry idref="id7c5056de2d5e426cbad2433e1e5b4ce8" level="section">Sec. 705A.
