<whereas><text>Whereas New Hampshire celebrates Maple Month during the month of March;</text></whereas> <whereas><text>Whereas the art of making sugar and syrup from the sap of the maple tree was developed by Native Americans of the Northeastern United States;</text></whereas>
<whereas><text>Whereas maple syrup production has been a part of New Hampshire culture and history for more than 300 years;</text></whereas> <whereas><text>Whereas New Hampshire maple syrup production happens every spring for a 4-to-6 week period, when temperatures drop below freezing at night and rise above freezing during the day and sap is collected from sugar maples and boiled down into syrup;</text></whereas> 
<whereas><text>Whereas there are more than 350 maple syrup producers in New Hampshire;</text></whereas> <whereas><text>Whereas New Hampshire produces more than 130,000 gallons of maple syrup annually;</text></whereas> 
<whereas><text>Whereas maple syrup generates more than $8,000,000 for the New Hampshire economy;</text></whereas> <whereas><text>Whereas New Hampshire was the seventh largest producer of maple syrup in the United States in 2021; and</text></whereas> 
<whereas><text>Whereas, on March 19 and 20, 2022, New Hampshire maple producers will host Maple Weekend: Now, therefore, be it</text></whereas></preamble><resolution-body style="traditional" id="H30F4A3D67FB045FEB61AD92C3D3D9434"> <section display-inline="yes-display-inline" section-type="undesignated-section" id="H2A2291F642084AD1BF50B9D9EE9E963F"><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">That the House of Representatives—</text> 
<paragraph id="HEB4CBCAB1A364E9498C9D2A22080659F"><enum>(1)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">recognizes the contribution and importance of maple syrup producers and their families in the State of New Hampshire; and</text></paragraph> <paragraph id="H66BC80AFE5D4413EA03634FE85DD94D9"><enum>(2)</enum><text>supports the designation of <quote>New Hampshire Maple Weekend</quote>.</text></paragraph></section>
