RES. 98</legis-num><current-chamber>IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES</current-chamber><action display="yes"><action-date date="20210204">February 4, 2021</action-date><action-desc><sponsor name-id="H001088">Mr. Hagedorn</sponsor> (for himself, <cosponsor name-id="E000294">Mr. Emmer</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="S001212">Mr. Stauber</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="F000470">Mrs. Fischbach</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="P000616">Mr. Phillips</cosponsor>, and <cosponsor name-id="C001119">Ms. Craig</cosponsor>) submitted the following resolution; which was referred to the <committee-name committee-id="HVR00">Committee on Veterans' Affairs</committee-name></action-desc></action><legis-type>RESOLUTION</legis-type><official-title display="yes">Recognizing the 100th anniversary of the Department of Minnesota Veterans of Foreign Wars.</official-title></form><preamble><whereas><text>Whereas the Department of Minnesota Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) was founded on January 17, 1921;</text></whereas><whereas><text>Whereas Minnesota VFW membership has over 200 posts in Minnesota, serving over 32,000 veterans who have served honorably in a foreign war or overseas operation recognized by a campaign medal;</text></whereas><whereas><text>Whereas Minnesota VFW membership has over 21,000 auxiliary members, consisting of fathers, mothers, sisters, brothers, sons, daughters, grandfathers, grandmothers, grandsons, and granddaughters of those that have honorably served in the Armed Forces of the United States;</text></whereas><whereas><text>Whereas the purpose of the Minnesota VFW is to preserve and support the patriotic and historical interests of our country, our communities, and our veterans, and to strengthen the common bonds of the men and women who have served, by assisting them and their families, and enhancing their quality of life;</text></whereas><whereas><text>Whereas the Minnesota VFW is dedicated to implementing programs, services, and assistance to veteran members and their families, including—</text><paragraph id="HBF7C68F083234E5AABBE063ACA6F1206"><enum>(1)</enum><text>veterans services;</text></paragraph><paragraph id="H24B9021FCDD5443694A4F45EA8453EB3"><enum>(2)</enum><text>legislative services;</text></paragraph><paragraph id="H0F2C6222FCCA40B99EA222D335826E7B"><enum>(3)</enum><text>national military services;</text></paragraph><paragraph id="H7DE52016CB7A433391192E2D3FB22150"><enum>(4)</enum><text>the <quote>Buddy</quote> Poppy program;</text></paragraph><paragraph id="H6F43C885AA144AFF84AB76633901DB71"><enum>(5)</enum><text>national security and foreign affairs advocacy programs;</text></paragraph><paragraph id="H0E4CCFA8962E41EAA591325CF44AECF5"><enum>(6)</enum><text>the VFW Action Corps;</text></paragraph><paragraph id="H90D97B5B440D480B8D1D87B8CDB32EFE"><enum>(7)</enum><text>youth development, scholarships, and recognition; and</text></paragraph><paragraph id="HFF21BAFE20F543D0BB7CB8F4E44D31D4"><enum>(8)</enum><text>citizenship education and community services; and</text></paragraph></whereas><whereas><text>Whereas the Minnesota VFW has honorably served veterans and their families for a century: Now, therefore, be it</text></whereas></preamble><resolution-body style="traditional" id="H7B6E6F45B6F64AD9B16DCDA997D7E20C"><section display-inline="yes-display-inline" section-type="undesignated-section" id="H21CE54D68733496B9BA9727E13FC11EE"><enum/><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">That the House of Representatives recognizes the Department of Minnesota Veterans of Foreign Wars for 100 years of dutiful service to veterans across the State of Minnesota.</text></section></resolution-body></resolution>
