RES. 946</legis-num><current-chamber>IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES</current-chamber><action display="yes"><action-date date="20220225">February 25, 2022</action-date><action-desc><sponsor name-id="T000482">Mrs. Trahan</sponsor> (for herself, <cosponsor name-id="W000800">Mr. Welch</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="T000483">Mr. Trone</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="S001185">Ms. Sewell</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="C001103">Mr. Carter of Georgia</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="F000466">Mr. Fitzpatrick</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="B001298">Mr. Bacon</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="M001196">Mr. Moulton</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="R000515">Mr. Rush</cosponsor>, and <cosponsor name-id="F000462">Ms. Lois Frankel of Florida</cosponsor>) submitted the following resolution; which was referred to the <committee-name committee-id="HIF00">Committee on Energy and Commerce</committee-name></action-desc></action><legis-type>RESOLUTION</legis-type><official-title display="yes">Supporting women’s cardiovascular health.</official-title></form><preamble><whereas><text>Whereas cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death for women in the United States;</text></whereas><whereas><text>Whereas women with cardiovascular disease are often underdiagnosed or misdiagnosed;</text></whereas><whereas><text>Whereas women are underrepresented in clinical trials which assess unique benefits and risks of new cardiovascular treatments;</text></whereas><whereas><text>Whereas women of color are particularly underrepresented in clinical trials of new cardiovascular treatments;</text></whereas><whereas><text>Whereas addressing known barriers to clinical trial participation will increase the number of women participating in clinical trials;</text></whereas><whereas><text>Whereas there is a critical need for increased participation in cardiovascular intervention clinical trials by women; and</text></whereas><whereas><text>Whereas there exists a lack of awareness about treatment options for women, including technologies to enable heart recovery or heart muscle recovery, which enables a superior quality of life following a heart event: Now, therefore, be it</text></whereas></preamble><resolution-body style="traditional" id="H97BB3D5BE14142338007E86E62C7284D"><section id="HA6F3392C93524633BFD54703A712F0FA" section-type="undesignated-section" display-inline="yes-display-inline"><enum/><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">That the House of Representatives—</text><paragraph id="HE19030FFE8E6495F9E8D3E7BCF07B6AE"><enum>(1)</enum><text>supports efforts to increase participation of women in cardiovascular intervention clinical trials;</text></paragraph><paragraph id="H7610DDD9B33247468C0D6123E3A3D751"><enum>(2)</enum><text>recognizes the critical importance of education and awareness of advanced cardiovascular treatment options for women; and</text></paragraph><paragraph id="HC994E2319AE341F7A623D078E6BAAF5C"><enum>(3)</enum><text>encourages health care providers, drug and device manufacturers, and patient advocates to collaborate on ways to improve cardiovascular health among women.</text></paragraph></section></resolution-body></resolution>
