RES. 623</legis-num><current-chamber>IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES</current-chamber><action display="yes"><action-date date="20210907">September 7, 2021</action-date><action-desc><sponsor name-id="C001104">Mr. Cawthorn</sponsor> submitted the following resolution; which was referred to the <committee-name committee-id="HJU00">Committee on the Judiciary</committee-name></action-desc></action><legis-type>RESOLUTION</legis-type><official-title display="yes">Expressing the sense of the House of Representatives that political violence, violent speech, and inciteful language have no place in our political discourse and should be wholly condemned.</official-title></form><preamble><whereas><text>Whereas political violence in America is never acceptable;</text></whereas><whereas><text>Whereas political will of Americans is expressed at the ballot box through secure and safe elections;</text></whereas><whereas><text>Whereas it is the duty of the House of Representatives to condemn all forms of political violence in the United States of America; and</text></whereas><whereas><text>Whereas the following calls for political violence have been ignored and not condemned by the Democratic Party or the House of Representatives:</text><list list-type="none" level="paragraph"><list-item><quote>When they go low, we kick ’em. That’s what this new Democratic Party is about.</quote>—Former United States Attorney General Eric Holder;</list-item><list-item><quote>Let’s make sure we show up wherever we have to show up. And if you see anybody from that Cabinet in a restaurant, in a department store, at a gasoline station, you get out and you create a crowd. And you push back on them. And you tell them they’re not welcome anymore, anywhere. We’ve got to get the children connected to their parents.</quote>—Congresswoman Maxine Waters;</list-item><list-item><quote>I will go and take Trump out tonight!</quote>—Congresswoman Maxine Waters;</list-item><list-item><quote>People Will Do What They Do.</quote>—Speaker Nancy Pelosi responding to violent mobs in America;</list-item><list-item><quote>There needs to be unrest in the streets for as long as there is unrest in our lives.</quote>—Congresswoman Ayanna Pressley;</list-item><list-item><quote>Show me where it says that protests are supposed to be polite and peaceful.</quote>—Chris Cuomo;</list-item><list-item><quote>If we were in high school I’d take him behind the gym and beat the hell out of him.</quote>—President Joe Biden;</list-item><list-item><quote>They’re still going to have to go out and put a bullet in Donald Trump. And that’s a fact</quote>—Rick Wilson;</list-item><list-item><quote>I have thought an awful lot about blowing up the White House,</quote>—Madonna; and</list-item><list-item><quote>I hope Trump is assassinated.</quote>—Democratic State Senator Maria Chappelle-Nadal: Now, therefore, be it</list-item></list></whereas></preamble><resolution-body style="OLC" id="HF5475F47096843A8BAA97358BE160193"><section id="H7DA49A6D76284C87895F8891EA27398D" display-inline="yes-display-inline" section-type="undesignated-section"><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">That it is the sense of the House of Representatives that political violence, violent speech, and inciteful language have no place in our political discourse and should be wholly condemned. </text></section></resolution-body></resolution>
