RES. 347</legis-num><current-chamber>IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES</current-chamber><action display="yes"><action-date date="20210422">April 22, 2021</action-date><action-desc><sponsor name-id="S001214">Mr. Steube</sponsor> submitted the following resolution; which was referred to the <committee-name committee-id="HGO00">Committee on Oversight and Reform</committee-name></action-desc></action><legis-type>RESOLUTION</legis-type><official-title display="yes">Congratulating Charlotte County, Florida, on its 100th anniversary.</official-title></form><preamble><whereas><text>Whereas April 23, 2021, marks the 100th anniversary of the establishment of Charlotte County;</text></whereas><whereas><text>Whereas what was to become Charlotte County enjoys a rich cultural, natural, and historical heritage dating back to the Calusa people;</text></whereas><whereas><text>Whereas Charlotte County residents banded together to seek home rule through the establishment of a new county;</text></whereas><whereas><text>Whereas Charlotte County was created by an act of the Florida Legislature signed into law by Governor Cary A. Hardee on April 23, 1921; </text></whereas><whereas><text>Whereas Charlotte County has grown from a modest community of less than 3,000 people at that time to nearly 200,000 today; </text></whereas><whereas><text>Whereas Charlotte County, Florida, boasts a vibrant economy based on varied industries, including construction, health care, aviation, tourism, retail, and services; and</text></whereas><whereas><text>Whereas Charlotte County cherishes and celebrates its rich history with commemorative markers, historical archives, partnerships with local historical societies, and a year-long schedule of events to mark its centennial year: Now, therefore, be it</text></whereas></preamble><resolution-body style="traditional" id="HC402C5826D7049E5BD20F719306DE9FA"><section display-inline="yes-display-inline" section-type="undesignated-section" id="H9C7530D648D94221AA525EA3025E4F9B"><enum/><text>That the House of Representatives—</text><paragraph id="HBA15FBA705B64F2988084DE15BC250DE"><enum>(1)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">congratulates Charlotte County, Florida, on its 100th anniversary; and</text></paragraph><paragraph id="HAE14061C0D6945908218CFD387127FAE"><enum>(2)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">commends the Floridians who have made Charlotte County, Florida, such a wonderful place to live, work, and play in paradise. </text></paragraph></section></resolution-body></resolution>
