<whereas><text>Whereas Officer Blaize Alyxander Madrid-Evans of the Independence Police Department was killed one year ago, on September 15, 2021, while responding to a call;</text></whereas> <whereas><text>Whereas Officer Madrid-Evans was born on June 2, 1999, in North Kansas City, Missouri, and grew up in Kansas City, Missouri, until his senior year of high school, when his family moved to Smithville;</text></whereas> 
<whereas><text>Whereas Officer Madrid-Evans graduated from Smithville High School in 2018 and then began working for the American Medical Response as an emergency responder, where he remained for nearly two years;</text></whereas> <whereas><text>Whereas, in July 2021, Officer Madrid-Evans graduated from the police academy and started his tour with the Independence Police Department, which, sadly, would last only two months;</text></whereas> 
<whereas><text>Whereas Officer Madrid-Evans was awarded the highest form of recognition from the Independence Police Department, the Medal of Valor, on March 25, 2022, which is a profound honor given only to officers who display extraordinary acts of heroism and courage that go above and beyond the call of duty;</text></whereas> <whereas><text>Whereas Officer Madrid-Evans was added to the Smithville Education Foundation’s Wall of Fame in February 2022; and</text></whereas> 
<whereas><text>Whereas Officer Madrid-Evans was an organ donor, and after his passing, completed a final act of service by saving the lives of others, as of September 15, 2022, has saved 7 people’s lives, and enhanced 37 people’s lives by donating all of his organs, including a kidney going to a fellow police officer in Springfield, Missouri, who was critically injured in the line of duty, and the Midwest Transplant Team estimates he will affect up to 75 lives: Now, therefore, be it</text></whereas></preamble><resolution-body style="traditional" id="HDF984E9F4DAC48548B4EDF1B69DBC152"> <section id="H7A70E3CD1CAA4281B27699A07046C7A3" section-type="undesignated-section" display-inline="yes-display-inline"><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">That the House of Representatives—</text> 
<paragraph id="H16F902FA00724C5C85343DC77FE960AF"><enum>(1)</enum><text>honors the life and memory of Officer Blaize Madrid-Evans who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty;</text></paragraph> <paragraph id="H45A7979FC8944136BA1D3CAB0AFC5231"><enum>(2)</enum><text>expresses condolences to Officer Madrid-Evans’ family, who ardently keep the memory of his distinguished service and boundless bravery alive; and</text></paragraph> 
<paragraph id="H19686AD2418441F0909893A129F95128"><enum>(3)</enum><text>recognizes the far-reaching impact of Officer Madrid-Evans’ organ donation and his everlasting legacy.</text></paragraph></section> </resolution-body></resolution>
