RES. 1253</legis-num><associated-doc role="report" display="yes">[Report No. 117–501]</associated-doc><current-chamber display="yes">IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES</current-chamber><action display="yes"><action-date date="20220722">July 22, 2022</action-date><action-desc><sponsor name-id="W000821">Mr. Westerman</sponsor> submitted the following resolution; which was referred to the <committee-name committee-id="HII00" added-display-style="italic" deleted-display-style="strikethrough">Committee on Natural Resources</committee-name></action-desc></action><action><action-date>September 28, 2022</action-date><action-desc>Reported adversely with an amendment, referred to the House Calendar, and ordered to be printed</action-desc><action-instruction>Strike out all after the resolving clause and insert the part printed in italic</action-instruction><action-instruction>For text of introduced resolution, see copy of resolution as introduced on July 22, 2022</action-instruction></action><legis-type>RESOLUTION</legis-type><official-title display="yes">Of inquiry directing the Secretary of the Interior to transmit certain documents to the House of Representatives relating to the actions of the Department of the Interior’s Departmental Ethics Office.</official-title></form><resolution-body changed="added" style="traditional" committee-id="HII00" reported-display-style="italic" id="H7D9A5CC169D44ADAB855B62AE1366EC8"><section id="H23E036F6571A415088C9696F19BB4D3F" section-type="undesignated-section" display-inline="yes-display-inline"><enum/><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">That the Secretary of the Interior is directed to transmit, to the House of Representatives, not later than 14 days after the date of the adoption of this resolution, copies of any document, memorandum, correspondence, and other communication or any portion of any such communication, that refers or relates to the operation of the Department of the Interior’s Departmental Ethics Office and the creation of ethics guidance, including the following:</text><paragraph id="HF31896AA0AAA4993928182A09921745F"><enum>(1)</enum><text>Any documents and communications relating to the process for creating ethics compliance materials, including but not limited to any reference to—</text><subparagraph id="H74AC11376EBD45EDA739F1822C8CF4BE"><enum>(A)</enum><text>the creation of Ethics Guidance on Recusal Obligations;</text></subparagraph><subparagraph id="H5E6060C5CAC84AE9880768F7FF3F17A9"><enum>(B)</enum><text>the creation of Ethics Recusal and Screening Arrangements;</text></subparagraph><subparagraph id="H1C4F4718C883432DB999982903E5D939"><enum>(C)</enum><text>how the Departmental Ethics Office collects information from political appointees; and</text></subparagraph><subparagraph id="HEBC157C964A545F69E9F1EFEF8DB5773"><enum>(D)</enum><text>how the Departmental Ethics Office verifies the information provided by political appointees.</text></subparagraph></paragraph><paragraph id="H7717CC25C1E94BA89CAA5C8B146A9580"><enum>(2)</enum><text>Any documents and communications relating to the time frame in which political appointees are provided final ethics guidance.</text></paragraph><paragraph id="HC92658466D6D4381A3D509A60DB3E07C"><enum>(3)</enum><text>Any documents and communications relating to ethics waivers for political appointees; including but not limited to any reference to—</text><subparagraph id="H67F470DF2B4648CBB0DC947CA19BB0E4"><enum>(A)</enum><text>requests for ethics waivers;</text></subparagraph><subparagraph id="HFA7B3DC5CEC4466ABFDBA1FCE747EB2A"><enum>(B)</enum><text>denying an ethics waiver; and</text></subparagraph><subparagraph id="HFF1A2E55C6C0499495C9922E84EB9E75"><enum>(C)</enum><text>granting an ethics waiver.</text></subparagraph></paragraph><paragraph id="H133B3547379249F1866A4831346A1700"><enum>(4)</enum><text>Any documents and communications relating to the drafting and finalization of ethics guidance for all Interior Department political appointees.</text></paragraph><paragraph id="HD9C8FDB021794FA89ED5B76EB228BF39"><enum>(5)</enum><text>Any meeting or communication that occurred between the Designated Agency Ethics Official and all Interior Department political appointees, relating to the drafting and finalization of ethics guidance.</text></paragraph></section></resolution-body><endorsement display="yes"><action-date>September 28, 2022</action-date><action-desc>Reported adversely with an amendment, referred to the House Calendar, and ordered to be printed</action-desc></endorsement></resolution>
