<whereas><text>Whereas childhood apraxia of speech is a motor speech neurological condition affecting 1 to 2 out of 1,000 children in the United States;</text></whereas> <whereas><text>Whereas children diagnosed with childhood apraxia of speech generally have a good sense of the language and know what they want to say, however, they have difficulty learning and carrying out the complex and sequenced movements that are necessary for intelligible speech;</text></whereas> 
<whereas><text>Whereas childhood apraxia of speech is often misdiagnosed or undiagnosed, leading to a greater gap for children who require intensive speech therapy;</text></whereas> <whereas><text>Whereas children with apraxia are at greater risk for developing secondary issues relating to reading, writing, and language expressions;</text></whereas> 
<whereas><text>Whereas children with apraxia are highly intelligent and are cognitively on par with their peers, but often suffer socially because of their lack of communication skills;</text></whereas> <whereas><text>Whereas with the proper therapy, children with apraxia can lead lives full of endless possibilities and hope; and</text></whereas> 
<whereas><text>Whereas May 14, 2022, is the designated day to observe Childhood Apraxia of Speech Awareness Day: Now, therefore, be it</text></whereas></preamble><resolution-body style="OLC" id="H0456F777E54846A2860C32DC9BA6F119"> <section id="H379D3D349E864841B2B761C2DAA248BB" display-inline="yes-display-inline" section-type="undesignated-section"><text>That the House of Representatives supports— </text> 
<paragraph id="H303DADFE45214402895706B9AB78F286"><enum>(1)</enum><text>the designation of a <quote>Childhood Apraxia of Speech Awareness Day</quote>;</text></paragraph> <paragraph id="HB6AC8E313B104EC3AC3B1F6B29B15BCF"><enum>(2)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">increasing recognition of and education on this challenging motor speech disorder;</text></paragraph> 
<paragraph id="H94248F682B854A9DB99BD28EE2700740"><enum>(3)</enum><text>encouraging research and data collection for childhood apraxia of speech; and</text></paragraph> <paragraph id="HC8AFE507F26C4E91BAB39E650B281A8F"><enum>(4)</enum><text>developing educational resources for individuals who are diagnosed with childhood apraxia of speech and their families.</text></paragraph></section>
