Boyle of Pennsylvania</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="D000623">Mr. DeSaulnier</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="M001135">Ms. Manning</cosponsor>, and <cosponsor name-id="C001055">Mr. Case</cosponsor>) submitted the following resolution; which was referred to the <committee-name committee-id="HGO00">Committee on Oversight and Reform</committee-name></action-desc></action><legis-type>RESOLUTION</legis-type><official-title display="yes">Honoring one million deaths from COVID–19 in the United States.</official-title></form><preamble><whereas><text>Whereas, on May 12, 2022, the United States reached 1,000,000 confirmed lives lost due to COVID–19;</text></whereas><whereas><text>Whereas the first laboratory-confirmed case of COVID–19 in the United States was recorded by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) on January 20, 2020;</text></whereas><whereas><text>Whereas the first known death from COVID–19 in the United States occurred in February 2020;</text></whereas><whereas><text>Whereas in the months following the first recorded death, the COVID–19 pandemic has impacted individuals, families, and communities across the United States;</text></whereas><whereas><text>Whereas estimates report that the death toll from COVID–19 has increased the number of orphans in the United States by nearly 200,000 children;</text></whereas><whereas><text>Whereas scientific breakthroughs have been effective at reducing the COVID–19 death toll; and</text></whereas><whereas><text>Whereas it is recognized that mitigation efforts can reduce the number of deaths due to COVID–19 and save lives: Now, therefore, be it</text></whereas></preamble><resolution-body style="traditional" id="HA5A813F5DD684A58879900E9DF8EC549"><section display-inline="yes-display-inline" section-type="undesignated-section" id="H8021FE2527F84891B2E8440CF7015EA8"><enum/><text>That the House of Representatives—</text><paragraph id="H760C160D013F48AD843148F3877ECC04"><enum>(1)</enum><text>recognizes and mourns the 1,000,000 known lives lost in the United States from COVID–19; and</text></paragraph><paragraph id="HDA8550AE9A5D434EA4B7991A041C06C3"><enum>(2)</enum><text>honors the memory of the deceased and offers condolences to their families and loved ones.</text></paragraph></section></resolution-body></resolution>
