R. 970</legis-num><current-chamber>IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES</current-chamber><action display="yes"><action-date date="20210211">February 11, 2021</action-date><action-desc><sponsor name-id="B001309">Mr. Burchett</sponsor> (for himself and <cosponsor name-id="C001063">Mr. Cuellar</cosponsor>) introduced the following bill; which was referred to the <committee-name committee-id="HWM00">Committee on Ways and Means</committee-name></action-desc></action><legis-type>A BILL</legis-type><official-title display="yes">To amend the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 to extend the qualified opportunity zone tax incentive, and for other purposes.</official-title></form><legis-body id="HB19C1AFC19D24AC295E2F39443398C73" style="OLC"><section id="H8CFFBD18001140BA82C06C1E15B29F57" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Opportunity Zone Extension Act of 2021</short-title></quote>. </text></section><section id="H03B1B6E54AF04A3DBEA2643026B2DBE6"><enum>2.</enum><header>Extension of election and gain deferral periods until December 31, 2028</header><subsection id="HDC1E2408A40C480F98F9D24F1D719CA1"><enum>(a)</enum><header>Extension of election period</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline"><external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/26/1400Z">Section 1400Z–2(a)(2)(B)</external-xref> of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 is amended by striking <quote>December 31, 2026</quote> and inserting <quote>December 31, 2028</quote>. </text></subsection><subsection id="H758B8706FA57478B8F67E22144C9C3AE"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Extension of deferral period</header><text>Section 1400Z–2(b)(1)(B) of such Code is amended by striking <quote>December 31, 2026</quote> and inserting <quote>December 31, 2028</quote>.</text></subsection><subsection id="H5D5F142A1125444AB2721C60240A9A24"><enum>(c)</enum><header>Effective date</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The amendments made by this section shall apply as if included in the enactment of section 13823 of <external-xref legal-doc="public-law" parsable-cite="pl/115/97">Public Law 115–97</external-xref>.</text></subsection></section></legis-body></bill>
