R. 9704 IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES December 30, 2022 Ms. Williams of Georgia introduced the following bill; which was referred to the Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure A BILL To amend title 23, United States Code, to encourage affordable and accessible classroom-based driving instruction and behind-the-wheel training in highway safety programs, and for other purposes.

1.

Short title

This Act may be cited as the Developing Robust Investments in Vehicle Education for Roadway Safety Act or the DRIVERS Act.

Highway safety programs

Section 402(m)(2)(B)(x) of title 23, United States Code, is amended— (1)by striking improve teen knowledge about; (2)in subclause (I)— (A)by inserting improve teen knowledge about before safe driving; and (B)by striking and at the end; (3)in subclause (II)— (A)by inserting prepare teens for before State graduated driving; (B)by inserting classroom-based driving instruction and before behind-the-wheel; and (C)by striking the period at the end and inserting ; and; and (4)by adding at the end the following: (III)provide programming for which affordability and accessibility are considered in its implementation..
