A BILL
To amend title 10, United States Code, to restrict the Secretary of
Defense from paying or reimbursing expenses relating to abortion
services.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the
United States of America in Congress assembled,
SECTION 1. RESTRICTION ON PAYMENT AND REIMBURSEMENT BY DEPARTMENT OF
DEFENSE OF EXPENSES RELATING TO ABORTION SERVICES.
Section 1093 of title 10, United States Code, is amended by adding
at the end the following new subsections:
``(c) Restriction on Reimbursement of Certain Fees.--(1) The
Secretary of Defense may not pay for or reimburse any fees or expenses,
including travel expenses, relating to a health-care professional
gaining a license in a State if the purpose of gaining such license is
to provide abortion services.
``(2) In this subsection:
``(A) The term `health-care professional' means a member of
the armed forces, civilian employee of the Department of
Defense, personal services contractor under section 1091 of
this title, or other individual who provides health care at a
military medical treatment facility.
``(B) The term `license' has the meaning given that term in
section 1094 of this title.
``(d) Restriction on Reimbursement of Travel Expenses.--The
Secretary of Defense may not pay for or reimburse any individual for
travel expenses relating to abortion services.''.
