R. 910</legis-num><current-chamber>IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES</current-chamber><action display="yes"><action-date date="20210208">February 8, 2021</action-date><action-desc><sponsor name-id="B001285">Ms. Brownley</sponsor> introduced the following bill; which was referred to the <committee-name committee-id="HVR00">Committee on Veterans' Affairs</committee-name></action-desc></action><legis-type>A BILL</legis-type><official-title display="yes">To direct the Comptroller General of the United States to conduct reviews of certain budget requests of the President for the medical care accounts of the Department of Veterans Affairs.</official-title></form><legis-body id="H8A285463E490461485D9F019C30785D6" style="OLC"><section id="HC2BCFF97B87248318E81EB97AFE18560" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Veterans Healthcare Improvement Act</short-title></quote>.</text></section><section id="HB7F6351867044770AEC4DAB10D8DA073" section-type="subsequent-section"><enum>2.</enum><header>Comptroller General review of Department of Veterans Affairs medical care budget submissions</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">Section 4 of the Veterans Health Care Budget Reform and Transparency Act of 2009 (<external-xref legal-doc="public-law" parsable-cite="pl/111/81">Public Law 111–81</external-xref>; <external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/38/117">38 U.S.C. 117</external-xref> note) is amended to read as follows:</text><quoted-block id="H7DB50EDA163B475AA26BC9BBB9E8431C" style="OLC"><section id="HE0DAD995D5D74AB1BD02537F7CBD456A"><enum>4.</enum><header>Comptroller General review of Department of Veterans Affairs medical care budget submission</header><subsection id="H676D5C39D5A2406D9E07E5EE8ECA6DE7"><enum>(a)</enum><header>Review of budget submission; reports</header><text>For each of fiscal years 2022, 2023, and 2024, the Comptroller General of the United States shall—</text><paragraph id="H012AF66281EA4AD0B76C7ECBA72C5361"><enum>(1)</enum><text>review the budget requests for the medical care accounts of the Department of Veterans Affairs in the budget request of the President submitted pursuant to section 1105 of title 31, United States Code; and</text></paragraph><paragraph id="HF549FA9DB2364FDF94F208283789F246"><enum>(2)</enum><text>submit to the Committees on Veterans’ Affairs, Appropriations, and the Budget of the Senate and the House of Representatives a report or reports on the results of each such review.</text></paragraph></subsection><subsection id="H9B19C441FB404F91AC8A0D619EBD8A8C"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Timing and scope of reports</header><text>In determining the timing and scope for the submittal of the report or reports required under subsection (a), the Comptroller General shall consult with the Committees on Veterans’ Affairs of the Senate and the House of Representatives.</text></subsection><subsection id="HE06AADF217554892BB3B891362174C2F"><enum>(c)</enum><header>Medical care accounts</header><text>In this section, the term <term>medical care accounts of the Department of Veterans Affairs</term> means the following medical care accounts of the Veterans Health Administration, Department of Veterans Affairs account:</text><paragraph id="H4171BBB42D83431289571338D3176E57"><enum>(1)</enum><text>Medical Services.</text></paragraph><paragraph id="H3A8DB8CBA84E43E98BCDFE0C85755E30"><enum>(2)</enum><text>Medical Support and Compliance.</text></paragraph><paragraph id="HFFC7BA4FF163475D85E4BB542EE94184"><enum>(3)</enum><text>Medical Facilities.</text></paragraph><paragraph id="HA3D403D75249454C825E420A073C80A2"><enum>(4)</enum><text>Medical Community Care.</text></paragraph></subsection></section><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block></section></legis-body></bill>
