                                 A BILL


 
  To direct the President to take such actions as may be necessary to 
 prohibit the purchase of public or private real estate located in the 
                United States by an foreign governments.

    Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the 
United States of America in Congress assembled,

SECTION 1. PROHIBITION ON PURCHASE OF PUBLIC OR PRIVATE REAL ESTATE IN 
              THE UNITED STATES BY FOREIGN GOVERNMENTS.

    (a) In General.--Notwithstanding any other provision of law, the 
President shall take such actions as may be necessary to prohibit the 
purchase of public or private real estate located in the United States 
by a foreign government, including a foreign government using a shell 
corporation that is owned or controlled by such government.
    (b) United States Defined.--In this section, the term ``United 
States'' means the several States, the District of Columbia, the 
Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana 
Islands, American Samoa, Guam, the United States Virgin Islands, and 
any other territory or possession of the United States.
