R. 8523</legis-num><current-chamber>IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES</current-chamber><action display="yes"><action-date date="20220727">July 27, 2022</action-date><action-desc><sponsor name-id="B001305">Mr. Budd</sponsor> introduced the following bill; which was referred to the <committee-name committee-id="HIF00">Committee on Energy and Commerce</committee-name></action-desc></action><legis-type>A BILL</legis-type><official-title display="yes">To amend the Public Health Service Act to require a State receiving a block grant for prevention and treatment of substance use disorders to describe the State’s efforts to encourage and promote work and employment to improve mental health and well-being.</official-title></form><legis-body id="H3B21772D26274498B29353B4F187D87E" style="OLC"><section id="HF9A0650ECAC548ABAD799239AFE3E363" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Promote Work and Improve Health Act of 2022</short-title></quote>.</text></section><section id="HA7920A995FD44CCE859CABDD291DBCD4"><enum>2.</enum><header>Description of the State efforts to promote work and employment to improve mental health and well-being</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">Section 1932(b)(1)(A) of the Public Health Service Act (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/42/300x">42 U.S.C. 300x(b)(1)(A)</external-xref>) is amended—</text><paragraph id="H814120FED9FB4F7FB6E32B547C10C693"><enum>(1)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">in clause (viii), by striking <quote>and</quote> at the end;</text></paragraph><paragraph id="HA9EA8C69F17B4F53A305E64C809A850E"><enum>(2)</enum><text>in clause (ix), by striking the period at the end and inserting <quote>; and</quote>; and </text></paragraph><paragraph id="HE949D600A3314CA79BE094B733F83622"><enum>(3)</enum><text>by adding at the end the following:</text><quoted-block style="OLC" id="H637BB71309C042E48CB197AC1A6C37FC" display-inline="no-display-inline"><clause id="HF294581B40B94A47B947D77E0DD959C0"><enum>(x)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">provides a description of the State’s efforts to encourage and promote work and employment to improve mental health and well-being.</text></clause><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block></paragraph></section></legis-body></bill>
