1.

Short title

This Act may be cited as the Keep on Trucking Act.

2.

Requirements for qualifications, hours of service, safety, and equipment standards

Section 31502 of title 49, United States Code, is amended— (1)in subsection (b)— (A)by striking The Secretary of Transportation may prescribe requirements for— and inserting the following: (1)

In general

The Secretary of Transportation may prescribe requirements for—; (B)by redesignating paragraphs (1) and (2) as subparagraphs (A) and (B), respectively; and (C)by adding at the end the following: (2)

Exception

Notwithstanding any other provision of law, the Secretary may not prescribe requirements for maximum hours of service of a driver operating a property-carrying commercial motor vehicle.; and (2)by adding at the end the following: (g)

Hours of service requirement

Any driver operating a property-carrying commercial motor vehicle on behalf of a motor carrier or a motor private carrier shall be permitted at least 10 consecutive hours in a 24-hour period off duty when such driver informs the motor carrier or motor private carrier that such driver needs immediate rest. .
