<section id="HBF6CED98AA644D7990C638769F8440D4" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Overseas Military Pay Protection Act of 2022</short-title></quote>. </text> </section> <section id="H9560CE31CCFB447E9A8571617D49AD44"><enum>2.</enum><header>OCONUS cost of living allowance: adjustments; notice to certain congressional committees</header> <subsection id="HD4D4E8E907DF482DB3926D70E14B7E09"><enum>(a)</enum><header>Adjustments</header> <paragraph id="H15D29AE95B1D4CF4A5B7E5EC8EFBEFFD"><enum>(1)</enum><header>Reductions: limitation</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The Secretary of Defense and the Secretary of the Department in which the Coast Guard is operating may not reduce the cost-of-living allowance for a member of the Armed Forces assigned to a duty station located outside the United States except in connection with a permanent change of station for such member.</text></paragraph> 
<paragraph id="HA6A92B525A4A4156BADCC95B5527C474"><enum>(2)</enum><header>Increases</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The Secretary of Defense and the Secretary of the Department in which the Coast Guard is operating may increase the allowance described in paragraph (1) for a member of the Armed Forces at any time.</text></paragraph></subsection> <subsection id="H7C01ACE6261E434FB301CEB027A0B130"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Notice to certain congressional committees</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The Secretary of Defense shall notify the appropriate congressional committees not less than 180 days before modifying a table used to calculate the living allowance described in subsection (a).</text></subsection> 
<subsection id="H8FB8DD7EB9594528A7B450380E536EF1"><enum>(c)</enum><header>Briefing</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Not later than March 1, 2023, the Secretary of Defense shall brief the Committees on Armed Services of the Senate and House of Representatives regarding effects of this section on the allowance described in subsection (a).</text></subsection> <subsection id="HF60D2ACD16854843AEFE7E90F1B32AEC"><enum>(d)</enum><header>Appropriate congressional committees defined</header><text>In this section, the term <term>appropriate congressional committees</term> means the following:</text> 
<paragraph id="H71A09A4FB043463C92B62AC8F0669975" display-inline="no-display-inline"><enum>(1)</enum><text>The Committee on Armed Services of the Senate.</text></paragraph> <paragraph id="HD188C87304304A379873A15D3F85BC8C" display-inline="no-display-inline"><enum>(2)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The Committees on Armed Services of the House of Representatives.</text></paragraph> 
<paragraph id="HA68C2B77ADD0483CAB3B97390E094931" display-inline="no-display-inline"><enum>(3)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation of the Senate.</text></paragraph> <paragraph id="H1985B53970104B2191B32E3CC4BE8ED2" display-inline="no-display-inline"><enum>(4)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure of the House of Representatives.</text></paragraph></subsection></section>
