R. 805</legis-num><current-chamber>IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES</current-chamber><action display="yes"><action-date date="20210204">February 4, 2021</action-date><action-desc><sponsor name-id="D000216">Ms. DeLauro</sponsor> (for herself and <cosponsor name-id="P000607">Mr. Pocan</cosponsor>) introduced the following bill; which was referred to the <committee-name committee-id="HWM00">Committee on Ways and Means</committee-name></action-desc></action><legis-type>A BILL</legis-type><official-title display="yes">To provide for an extension of temporary financing of short-time compensation programs.</official-title></form><legis-body id="HC22650D23B324AC4B3AC6CFAF107B86B" style="OLC"><section id="H8A637325BE064AF79E7DD36DD127F26A" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Layoff Prevention Act of 2021</short-title></quote>.</text></section><section id="HA23F297BF50B467E8BE665DE228DE625"><enum>2.</enum><header>Extension of temporary financing of short-time compensation payments in states with programs in law</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">Section 2108(b)(2) of the CARES Act (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/15/9026">15 U.S.C. 9026(b)(2)</external-xref>) is amended is striking <quote>March 14, 2021</quote> and inserting <quote>the date that is 5 years and 6 months after the date of enactment of the Layoff Prevention Act of 2021</quote>.</text></section><section id="H202C7F745B6643E89DE5633731A2AD20"><enum>3.</enum><header>Extension of temporary financing of short-time compensation agreements</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">Section 2109(d)(2) of the CARES Act (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/15/9027">15 U.S.C. 9027(d)(2)</external-xref>) is amended by striking <quote>March 14, 2021</quote> and inserting <quote>the date that is 2 years and 13 weeks after the date of enactment of the Layoff Prevention Act of 2021</quote>.</text></section><section id="H0F8DF0AA105543FDA0A02062A0466A9B"><enum>4.</enum><header>Extension of grants for short-time compensation programs</header><subsection id="H9E5BFDA0B8E24FEEBAC5A01B1BBAB3E9"><enum>(a)</enum><header>Extension; additional funding</header><text>Section 2110 of the CARES Act (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/15/9028">15 U.S.C. 9028</external-xref>) is amended—</text><paragraph id="HCF6F5650D24C404A801424D9B15FC8C6"><enum>(1)</enum><text>in subsection (b)(1), by striking <quote>$100,000,000</quote> and inserting <quote>$200,000,000</quote>;</text></paragraph><paragraph id="H3869F08F8A0D4D74B77BAA61CAA1B994"><enum>(2)</enum><text>in subsection (c)(1), by striking <quote>December 31, 2023</quote> and inserting <quote>December 31, 2026</quote>; and</text></paragraph><paragraph id="H41BDBDB80D004E63B7F90B4858891EAE"><enum>(3)</enum><text>in subsection (g), by striking <quote>$100,000,000</quote> and inserting <quote>$200,000,000</quote>.</text></paragraph></subsection><subsection id="H3D51C36430B24FF5ACDB270B4B9B2E7F"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Effective date</header><text>The amendments made by subsection (a) shall take effect as if included in the enactment of the CARES Act (<external-xref legal-doc="public-law" parsable-cite="pl/116/136">Public Law 116–136</external-xref>).</text></subsection></section></legis-body></bill>
