R. 8044</legis-num><current-chamber>IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES</current-chamber><action display="yes"><action-date date="20220613">June 13, 2022</action-date><action-desc><sponsor name-id="P000605">Mr. Perry</sponsor> (for himself, <cosponsor name-id="M001211">Mrs. Miller of Illinois</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="B000825">Mrs. Boebert</cosponsor>, and <cosponsor name-id="G000552">Mr. Gohmert</cosponsor>) introduced the following bill; which was referred to the <committee-name committee-id="HBA00">Committee on Financial Services</committee-name></action-desc></action><legis-type>A BILL</legis-type><official-title display="yes">To amend the Defense Production Act of 1950 to prohibit the President from making provision for the purchase of solar panels under the authority of such Act, and for other purposes.</official-title></form><legis-body id="H933A72F87DEA47239936209519A2B4BF" style="OLC"><section id="H5045B2112AA444CAA200AA2E71F6024B" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Planes Not Panels Act</short-title></quote>.</text></section><section id="H1F862155CF714C7DA629489C38A3363A"><enum>2.</enum><header>Limitation on presidential action</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">Section 303(a) of the Defense Production Act of 1950 (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/50/4533">50 U.S.C. 4533(a)</external-xref>) is amended by adding at the end the following:</text><quoted-block style="OLC" id="H6297931C4434499A972702602A882D04" display-inline="no-display-inline"><paragraph id="HCCFF75DB3E854BCD984454B95472AF0E"><enum>(8)</enum><header>Solar panels</header><subparagraph id="H76110FBFDDF84BB5B6680281D485C9DD"><enum>(A)</enum><header>In general</header><text>The President may not use any authority under this section to make provision for purchases of or commitments to purchase solar panels.</text></subparagraph><subparagraph id="H322B1E0E31124D9EA265664629D72829"><enum>(B)</enum><header>Solar panel defined</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">In this paragraph, the term <quote>solar panel</quote> means a crystalline silicon photovoltaic cell or module.</text></subparagraph></paragraph><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block></section></legis-body></bill>
