R. 789</legis-num><current-chamber>IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES</current-chamber><action display="yes"><action-date date="20210204">February 4, 2021</action-date><action-desc><sponsor name-id="A000376">Mr. Allred</sponsor> (for himself, <cosponsor name-id="P000613">Mr. Panetta</cosponsor>, and <cosponsor name-id="P000614">Mr. Pappas</cosponsor>) introduced the following bill; which was referred to the <committee-name committee-id="HVR00">Committee on Veterans' Affairs</committee-name></action-desc></action><legis-type>A BILL</legis-type><official-title display="yes">To direct the Secretary of Veterans Affairs to increase the amount of certain payments during the emergency period resulting from the COVID–19 pandemic.</official-title></form><legis-body id="H8BFC4117C69546848D2BDF47588661BB" style="OLC"><section id="H98CF1483CAAC4B67A412EA2C9E122178" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Aid and Attendance Support Act</short-title></quote>. </text></section><section id="H52AC47BCCB6442BD89A58D4E1B8D5F0D"><enum>2.</enum><header>Increase of amount of certain Department of Veterans Affairs payments during emergency period resulting from COVID-19 pandemic</header><subsection id="HE60A108A93164FF186C5602000E99514"><enum>(a)</enum><header>In general</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">During the covered period, the Secretary of Veterans Affairs shall apply each of the following provisions of title 38, United States Code, by substituting for each of the dollar amounts in such provision the amount equal to 125 percent of the dollar amount that was in effect under such provision on the date of the enactment of this Act:</text><paragraph id="H118F93B11B364A48B3B77616057E0282"><enum>(1)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Subsections (l), (m), (r), and (t) of section 1114.</text></paragraph><paragraph id="H84CC4417E9334C55BED475DA886062FC"><enum>(2)</enum><text>Paragraph (1)(E) of section 1115.</text></paragraph><paragraph id="HF0EA872E224D43E983B70B85F53D66F5"><enum>(3)</enum><text>Subsection (c) of section 1311.</text></paragraph><paragraph id="H684D8D76069A43CB9E3941D57467BB24"><enum>(4)</enum><text>Subsection (g) of section 1315.</text></paragraph><paragraph id="H89BCD9BC75B6492C803D75FA230A2E11"><enum>(5)</enum><text>Paragraphs (1) and (2) of subsection (d) of section 1521.</text></paragraph><paragraph id="H256BDB4A537E46BFB6DCAB9DCFE5B83F"><enum>(6)</enum><text>Paragraphs (2) and (4) of subsection (f) of section 1521.</text></paragraph></subsection><subsection id="H839068991C9E46448CCB6303DC836B2B"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Treatment of amounts</header><text>Any amount payable to an individual under subsection (a) in excess of the amount otherwise in effect shall be in addition to any other benefit or any other amount payable to that individual under any provision of law referred to in subsection (a) or any other provision of law administered by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs.</text></subsection><subsection id="H74D5F8EFC61C48FDA817C735EB947FA3"><enum>(c)</enum><header>Covered period</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">In this section, the covered period is the period that begins on the date of the enactment of this Act and ends 60 days after the last day of the emergency period (as defined in section 1135(g)(1) of the Social Security Act (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/42/1320b-5">42 U.S.C. 1320b–5(g)(1)</external-xref>)) resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic.</text></subsection></section></legis-body></bill>
