R. 7867</legis-num><current-chamber>IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES</current-chamber><action display="yes"><action-date date="20220524">May 24, 2022</action-date><action-desc><sponsor name-id="G000585">Mr. Gomez</sponsor> (for himself, <cosponsor name-id="L000397">Ms. Lofgren</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="E000297">Mr. Espaillat</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="G000586">Mr. García of Illinois</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="S001156">Ms. Sánchez</cosponsor>, and <cosponsor name-id="R000606">Mr. Raskin</cosponsor>) introduced the following bill; which was referred to the <committee-name committee-id="HJU00">Committee on the Judiciary</committee-name></action-desc></action><legis-type>A BILL</legis-type><official-title display="yes">To eliminate employment-based visa caps on abused, abandoned, and neglected children eligible for humanitarian status, and for other purposes.</official-title></form><legis-body id="HEB8DBF9F5F0640A3A1CBD1C973D4D426" style="OLC"><section id="H1B9A7855C88F481CA281A2B5735BADA6" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Protect Vulnerable Immigrant Youth Act</short-title></quote>. </text></section><section id="H0BE72ACD3DB54C53A0C344EF9D0F0A7F"><enum>2.</enum><header>Eliminating certain employment-based visa caps</header><subsection id="H972488436FA84C818CADD6CD20B3AA27"><enum>(a)</enum><header>Aliens Not Subject to Direct Numerical Limitations</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Section 201(b)(1)(A) of the Immigration and Nationality Act (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/8/1151">8 U.S.C. 1151(b)(1)(A)</external-xref>) is amended by striking <quote>subparagraph (A) or (B)</quote> and inserting <quote>subparagraph (A), (B), or (J)</quote>.</text></subsection><subsection id="HEE0A950BF0494729BD9FD4240462BBC5"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Preference Allocation for Employment-Based Immigrants</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Section 203(b)(4) of the Immigration and Nationality Act (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/8/1153">8 U.S.C. 1153(b)(4)</external-xref>) is amended by striking <quote>subparagraph (A) or (B)</quote> and inserting <quote>subparagraph (A), (B), or (J)</quote>.</text></subsection></section></legis-body></bill>
