R. 7811</legis-num><current-chamber>IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES</current-chamber><action display="yes"><action-date date="20220518">May 18, 2022</action-date><action-desc><sponsor name-id="O000019">Mr. Obernolte</sponsor> (for himself and <cosponsor name-id="P000613">Mr. Panetta</cosponsor>) introduced the following bill; which was referred to the <committee-name committee-id="HAS00">Committee on Armed Services</committee-name></action-desc></action><legis-type>A BILL</legis-type><official-title display="yes">To make certain improvements to the enterprise-wide procurement of cyber data products and services by the Department of Defense, and for other purposes.</official-title></form><legis-body id="H50383A69C0964BE3AC578395E4770916" style="OLC"><section id="H98BE4BDF7AD44050ACA89AC6EAC257DD" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>AI for National Security Act</short-title></quote>. </text></section><section id="H740F9B3BB66D400980BDB518B8BB1DDB"><enum>2.</enum><header>Department of Defense enterprise-wide procurement of cyber data products and services</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">Section 1521 of the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2022 (<external-xref legal-doc="public-law" parsable-cite="pl/117/81">Public Law 117–81</external-xref>; <external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/10/2224">10 U.S.C. 2224</external-xref> note) is amended—</text><paragraph id="H24F5389AD6824734B8BF855AD6E89DF7"><enum>(1)</enum><text>in subsection (a)(5), by inserting <quote>, including the use of artificial intelligence-based endpoint security that prevents cyber attacks and does not require constant internet connectivity to function,</quote> after <quote>services</quote>; and</text></paragraph><paragraph id="H01CC9DBBF4494A5BA4CE7A8A68F491CF"><enum>(2)</enum><text>in subsection (b), by inserting <quote>, including by enhancing the security of the software supply chain of the Department</quote> after <quote>best interests of the Department</quote>.</text></paragraph></section></legis-body></bill>
