Short title

This Act may be cited as the Communities Deserve Cops Act.

Law Enforcement Officer Bonuses

Subsection (b) of section 1701 of title I of the Omnibus Crime Control and Safe Streets Act of 1968 (34 U.S.C. 10381) is amended—(1)in paragraph (22), by striking and at the end;(2)in paragraph (23), by striking the period at the end and inserting a semicolon; and(3)by adding at the end the following: (24)to provide a signing bonus for a law enforcement officer in an amount not to exceed $5,000; and(25)to provide a retention bonus for a law enforcement officer in an amount not to exceed $5,000..
