<section id="H4086BEA279C5440A99D51315691990AB" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>BAH Calculation Improvement Act</short-title></quote>.</text></section> <section id="HF2582B0EA14C4E26809354CEE8481278" section-type="subsequent-section"><enum>2.</enum><header>Report on basic allowance for housing for members of the uniformed services</header> <subsection id="H1A78FB26AFAF41088C17071F65372C92"><enum>(a)</enum><header>Report; elements</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Not later than one year after the date of the enactment of this Act, the Secretary of Defense shall submit to the Committees on Armed Services of the Senate and House of Representatives a report on the basic allowance for housing for members of the uniformed services. Such report shall contain the following elements:</text> 
<paragraph id="H356CD092B28245C48A0EEE847A0A3377"><enum>(1)</enum><text>The evaluation of the Secretary—</text> <subparagraph id="H4BB84095CD4A47AC94ADBA36F87F55AB"><enum>(A)</enum><text>of the efficiency and accuracy of the current system used to calculate BAH;</text></subparagraph> 
<subparagraph id="HB69C33B2EB224A4D8F88FB4387C01086"><enum>(B)</enum><text>the appropriateness of using mean and median housing costs in such calculation;</text></subparagraph> <subparagraph id="H1F6FE2F4675547CC8D7B0A8A1C888B9A"><enum>(C)</enum><text>of existing MHAs, in relation to choices in, and availability of, housing to servicemembers; and</text></subparagraph> 
<subparagraph id="H713D6ACD5F2A445F8B54F4D304AE4D2B"><enum>(D)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">of the suitability of the six standard housing profiles in relation to the average family sizes of servicemembers, disaggregated by uniformed service, rank, and MHA.</text></subparagraph></paragraph> <paragraph id="H8BB6E59DDDEC486899495CDC8DF2BB24"><enum>(2)</enum><text>The recommendation of the Secretary—</text> 
<subparagraph id="HF1F88B42546D4370A314D829B5EEBAE5"><enum>(A)</enum><text>regarding the feasibility of including information, furnished by Federal entities, regarding school districts, in calculating BAH;</text></subparagraph> <subparagraph id="H9B4FAE5748DC4ADABA9037C5592A0A21"><enum>(B)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">whether to calculate BAH more frequently, including in response to a sudden change in the housing market;</text></subparagraph> 
<subparagraph id="H721F13D22FD349AE84D776A47E59B544"><enum>(C)</enum><text>whether to enter into an agreement with a commercial entity, to compile data and develop an algorithm, in order to calculate BAH; and</text></subparagraph> <subparagraph id="HE1D1026376954075B221665C44B5A760"><enum>(D)</enum><text>whether to publish the methods used by the Secretary to calculate BAH on a publicly accessible website of the Department of Defense.</text></subparagraph></paragraph></subsection> 
<subsection id="HDDD5334E06564E1FA12588BABFB11DB6"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Definitions</header><text>In this section:</text> <paragraph id="H280DEA5F759F4530B562BAA4344249A8"><enum>(1)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The term <quote>BAH</quote> means the basic allowance for housing for members of the uniformed services under section 403 of title 37, United States Code.</text></paragraph> 
<paragraph id="HC9B8D46CAD724533963F15D5FEC6F8BD"><enum>(2)</enum><text>The term <quote>MHA</quote> means military housing area.</text></paragraph> <paragraph id="HBFF60A9C0AE944D6A3D56C44FDC71341"><enum>(3)</enum><text>The term <quote>servicemember</quote> has the meaning given such term in section 101 of the Servicemembers Civil Relief Act (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/50/3911">50 U.S.C. 3911</external-xref>).</text></paragraph></subsection></section>
