R. 7480</legis-num><current-chamber>IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES</current-chamber><action display="yes"><action-date date="20220407">April 7, 2022</action-date><action-desc><sponsor name-id="P000605">Mr. Perry</sponsor> (for himself, <cosponsor name-id="M001211">Mrs. Miller of Illinois</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="T000165">Mr. Tiffany</cosponsor>, and <cosponsor name-id="C001104">Mr. Cawthorn</cosponsor>) introduced the following bill; which was referred to the <committee-name committee-id="HBA00">Committee on Financial Services</committee-name></action-desc></action><legis-type>A BILL</legis-type><official-title display="yes">To amend the Defense Production Act of 1950 to prohibit the use of the authorities under title I and title III of such Act for electric vehicles or related technologies.</official-title></form><legis-body id="H1B604EA835864263B0DBDC7F1C9225ED" style="OLC"><section id="H18A572BB102F46D5BB628190D16318C5" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Bullets Not Batteries Act</short-title></quote>.</text></section><section id="HFC690B857F13459BACE1DB3E818B5720"><enum>2.</enum><header>Prohibition on the use of authorities for electric vehicles and related technology</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">Section 104 of the Defense Production Act of 1950 (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/50/4514">50 U.S.C. 4514</external-xref>) is amended by adding at the end the following:</text><quoted-block style="OLC" id="H1E9BEF199E594E27B8286DC0E233FAEF" display-inline="no-display-inline"><subsection id="H489143BC79C84FD68931C86CAA78415F"><enum>(c)</enum><header>Electric vehicles and related technology</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The authorities provided under this title and title III may not be used with respect to—</text><paragraph id="H97B53B745E00405486E07D5633687A4C"><enum>(1)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">electric vehicles;</text></paragraph><paragraph id="HF0BAB1BCC78A4B6B8B981862E6D80FD7"><enum>(2)</enum><text>electric vehicle batteries;</text></paragraph><paragraph id="H36D9060EA25A42009E0B0987B8A1E028"><enum>(3)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">electric vehicle charging stations or other electric vehicle infrastructure; or</text></paragraph><paragraph id="HF4682F8111734E6597FB4EB050901BDB"><enum>(4)</enum><text>obtaining critical minerals that will be used for the manufacturing of any item described under paragraph (1), (2), or (3).</text></paragraph></subsection><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block></section></legis-body></bill>
