R. 7327</legis-num><current-chamber>IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES</current-chamber><action display="yes"><action-date date="20220331">March 31, 2022</action-date><action-desc><sponsor name-id="H001072">Mr. Hill</sponsor> introduced the following bill; which was referred to the <committee-name committee-id="HBA00">Committee on Financial Services</committee-name></action-desc></action><legis-type>A BILL</legis-type><official-title display="yes">To encourage the timely use of funds provided under the emergency rental assistance programs administered by the Secretary of the Treasury, and for other purposes.</official-title></form><legis-body id="H5A307153D5F4478193809CEE52C50BD3" style="OLC"><section id="H7D068A4FD5E841AEB950A1B41DFBEF49" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Protecting Rural Renters Act of 2022</short-title></quote>.</text></section><section id="HD1DAEC21AD3147788624CF5499DE8B32"><enum>2.</enum><header>Reallocation of certain unused funds</header><subsection id="H2FE9AC9870E94D6EB1FBCF8D5E495247"><enum>(a)</enum><header>Consolidated appropriations Act funds</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Section 501(d) of subtitle A of title V of division N of the Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2021 (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/15/9058a">15 U.S.C. 9058a(d)</external-xref>) is amended—</text><paragraph id="H1E80E435970844D890A7EF39BC5F342B"><enum>(1)</enum><text>by inserting <quote>other than a grantee described in subsection (b)(1)(B)(i)</quote> after <quote>by a grantee</quote>; and</text></paragraph><paragraph id="H712C7462D5684A5392E167106AD661D9"><enum>(2)</enum><text>by adding at the end the following new sentence: <quote>The Secretary shall require that any amount of funds reallocated pursuant to this subsection from a grantee described in subsection (b)(1)(B)(i) to another eligible grantee after September 30, 2021, but that remain unobligated by such other eligible grantee as of the date of enactment of this sentence, shall be returned to the original grantee described in subsection (b)(1)(B)(i) promptly upon such date of enactment.</quote>.</text></paragraph></subsection><subsection id="H6A4D08C50B34409DB0FB09C651E37622"><enum>(b)</enum><header>ARPA funds</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Section 3201(e) of the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021 (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/15/9058c">15 U.S.C. 9058c(e)</external-xref>) is amended—</text><paragraph id="H50B4F7334F6F4874A3EC7318723A8273"><enum>(1)</enum><text>in paragraph (1), by inserting <quote>other than grantees described in subsection (f)(1)(A)</quote> after <quote>eligible grantees</quote>; and</text></paragraph><paragraph id="H05F5DD84747E4668A36BA11DD5C5FB28"><enum>(2)</enum><text>by adding at the end the following new paragraph:</text><quoted-block style="OLC" id="HA1E85033AEB444478126891FFFBC988C" display-inline="no-display-inline"><paragraph id="H69AE778500724F6293BE46D29FE62359"><enum>(5)</enum><header>Return of certain reallocated funds</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The Secretary shall require that any amount of funds reallocated pursuant to this subsection from a grantee described in subsection (f)(1)(A) to another eligible grantee after March 31, 2022, but that remain unobligated by such other eligible grantee as of the date of enactment of this paragraph, shall be returned to the original grantee described in subsection (f)(1)(A) promptly upon such date of enactment.</text></paragraph><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block></paragraph></subsection></section></legis-body></bill>
