R. 7278</legis-num><current-chamber>IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES</current-chamber><action display="yes"><action-date date="20220329">March 29, 2022</action-date><action-desc><sponsor name-id="P000618">Ms. Porter</sponsor> (for herself, <cosponsor name-id="T000468">Ms. Titus</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="S001205">Ms. Scanlon</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="S001145">Ms. Schakowsky</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="T000481">Ms. Tlaib</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="N000147">Ms. Norton</cosponsor>, and <cosponsor name-id="J000306">Mr. Jones</cosponsor>) introduced the following bill; which was referred to the <committee-name committee-id="HJU00">Committee on the Judiciary</committee-name></action-desc></action><legis-type>A BILL</legis-type><official-title display="yes">To amend title 28, United States Code, to prohibit the exclusion of individuals from service on a Federal jury on account of disability.</official-title></form><legis-body id="H28F188235747429481DD32E6483497FB" style="OLC"><section section-type="section-one" id="HD2EB97841891425C82BF03798E7B0A4C"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Disabled Jurors Nondiscrimination Act</short-title></quote>.</text></section><section id="H5847FF57D0E34F68A03CECFA570717EA"><enum>2.</enum><header>Exclusion from Federal juries on account of disability</header><subsection id="H2CD60E7CEC604437A410EE6F0DB4E393"><enum>(a)</enum><header>Discrimination prohibited</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Section 1862 of title 28, United States Code, is amended by inserting <quote>disability,</quote> after <quote>origin,</quote>.</text></subsection><subsection id="HFB719E23857A44BBAE15351787781D6B"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Qualifications for jury service</header><text>Section 1865 of title 28, United States Code, is amended by adding at the end the following:</text><quoted-block style="OLC" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="HB7FC48C9E7F344FB99A3524A1DF76268"><subsection id="HF9B84827698E46F2A2AE84C3F1EC1D1A"><enum>(c)</enum><text>No person may be disqualified from serving on grand and petit juries in the district court under paragraph (2) or (3) of subsection (b) on account of disability.</text></subsection><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block></subsection></section></legis-body></bill>
