R. 7272</legis-num><current-chamber>IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES</current-chamber><action display="yes"><action-date date="20220329">March 29, 2022</action-date><action-desc><sponsor name-id="H001081">Mrs. Hayes</sponsor> (for herself, <cosponsor name-id="S000185">Mr. Scott of Virginia</cosponsor>, and <cosponsor name-id="R000600">Mrs. Radewagen</cosponsor>) introduced the following bill; which was referred to the <committee-name committee-id="HAG00">Committee on Agriculture</committee-name></action-desc></action><legis-type>A BILL</legis-type><official-title display="yes">To amend the Food and Nutrition Act of 2008 to expand the eligibility of disabled veterans to receive supplemental nutrition assistance program benefits.</official-title></form><legis-body id="H0F81DB55D01340F7B83D5FE1D87BA0CF" style="OLC"><section id="H975269CC649345A9970FE2962768E7A5" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Feed Hungry Veterans Act of 2022</short-title></quote>.</text></section><section id="HB8EA857FD2EE490A9EFE7E2403FC94FA"><enum>2.</enum><header>Amendments</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">The Food and Nutrition Act of 2008 (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/7/2011">7 U.S.C. 2011 et seq.</external-xref>) is amended—</text><paragraph id="HC26A16721E02434ABF6326DA259CE354"><enum>(1)</enum><text> in section 3(j)(4)—</text><subparagraph id="H107F735A42C3421293CFF8B7297CB23A"><enum>(A)</enum><text>by amending subparagraph (A) to read as follows:</text><quoted-block style="OLC" id="HFFC18593458843208CBDC74F3A5C8EBD" display-inline="no-display-inline"><paragraph id="H1110183F2E314E9BA31BD47B1428DC48" indent="down1"><enum>(A)</enum><text>has as least—</text><subparagraph id="H11FF164BF9CA4F69B099E8AA6C4C53A6"><enum>(i)</enum><text>one service-connected disability which is rated at 60 percent or higher under title 38, United States Code; or</text></subparagraph><subparagraph id="HC1FD96A6C43F4667AD54AA2880A16ADC"><enum>(ii)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">two or more service-connected disabilities, at least one of which is rated at 40 percent or higher and the combined rating is 70 percent or higher under such title;</text></subparagraph></paragraph><after-quoted-block>, and</after-quoted-block></quoted-block></subparagraph><subparagraph id="H87CF42A417994D02A14DC61FFA09A35E"><enum>(B)</enum><text>by inserting after subparagraph (B) the following:</text><quoted-block style="OLC" id="H363FA542A36E4871A2BEA817E6844784" display-inline="no-display-inline"><subparagraph id="H78192A4091C44B8EA37B18C19216159E"><enum>(C) </enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">has a determination of being catastrophically disabled under such title; or</text></subparagraph><subparagraph id="H241F298AE2504B25B9235101DB944F71"><enum>(D)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline"> is under the age of 65 and receiving a pension under section 1521 of such title; </text></subparagraph><after-quoted-block>, and</after-quoted-block></quoted-block></subparagraph></paragraph><paragraph id="HECEBEC2953214FB6B5689A6CB7BF0E92"><enum>(2)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">in the 1st sentence of section 6(d)(2)—</text><subparagraph id="HA96A5D57147445E7B39FEB94F2EAC770"><enum>(A)</enum><text> by striking <quote>or (F)</quote> and inserting <quote>(F)</quote>, and</text></subparagraph><subparagraph id="H99237223078044F7854C80162A20DC33"><enum>(B)</enum><text> by inserting before the period at the end the following:</text><quoted-block style="OLC" id="H9C21B1DB94F84A2C85D8204D248151DA" display-inline="no-display-inline"><quoted-block-continuation-text quoted-block-continuation-text-level="section">; or (G) a veteran described in subparagraph (A), (B), (C), or (D) of section 3(j)(4)</quoted-block-continuation-text><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block></subparagraph></paragraph></section><section id="H0EDFB2C0460A4C498CE03E6B7BA5A487" section-type="subsequent-section"><enum>3.</enum><header>Effective Date; Application of Amendments</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act, and the amendments made by this Act, shall take effect on October 1, 2022.</text></section></legis-body></bill>
