R. 7090</legis-num><current-chamber>IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES</current-chamber><action display="yes"><action-date date="20220315">March 15, 2022</action-date><action-desc><sponsor name-id="M001156">Mr. McHenry</sponsor> (for himself and <cosponsor name-id="S001172">Mr. Smith of Nebraska</cosponsor>) introduced the following bill; which was referred to the <committee-name committee-id="HWM00">Committee on Ways and Means</committee-name></action-desc></action><legis-type>A BILL</legis-type><official-title display="yes">To amend the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 to require the Secretary of the Treasury to permit an election relating to property transferred in connection with services to be made in electronic form.</official-title></form><legis-body id="H90B2B91991364B658D46967C23991BC3" style="OLC"><section id="H2C00B975424D400681571310A4099A99" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Eliminating Paperwork for Startups Act</short-title></quote>. </text></section><section id="H0F2EED3C561D412597AA308119BA486C"><enum>2.</enum><header>Electronic filing of election relating to property transferred in connection with services</header><subsection id="H680372DABFF94D1BAD890946E4F9070B"><enum>(a)</enum><header>In general</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline"><external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/26/83">Section 83(b)(2)</external-xref> of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 is amended by inserting <quote>(except that such election may be made in electronic form)</quote> after <quote>in such manner as the Secretary prescribes</quote>.</text></subsection><subsection id="HEFB92BC9B4414A76A018A41180352E51"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Confirmation</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">In the case of any election under <external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/26/83">section 83(b)</external-xref> of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 which is made in electronic form, the Secretary of the Treasury shall ensure that a confirmation of such election is sent in electronic form to the person making such election.</text></subsection><subsection id="HBAC770023D5C4A01BAF0BC194FF8C804"><enum>(c)</enum><header>Effective date</header><text>The amendment made by this Act shall apply to elections made after the date that is 180 days after the date of the enactment of this Act.</text></subsection></section></legis-body></bill>
