R. 6994</legis-num><current-chamber>IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES</current-chamber><action display="yes"><action-date date="20220308">March 8, 2022</action-date><action-desc><sponsor name-id="P000605">Mr. Perry</sponsor> introduced the following bill; which was referred to the <committee-name committee-id="HFA00">Committee on Foreign Affairs</committee-name></action-desc></action><legis-type>A BILL</legis-type><official-title display="yes">To prohibit United States Government recognition of the Russian Federation’s claim of sovereignty over any part of Ukraine (to include Crimea), its airspace, or its territorial waters, and for other purposes.</official-title></form><legis-body id="HD3EDB2464D6F465E843E22F6B25AEAF0" style="OLC"><section id="H88AFCCD784B54A15A25C6C1C7289CFCB" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Ukraine Sovereignty Act</short-title></quote>.</text></section><section id="HC2476CEE9D854D2594B51C5CAB6C7F90"><enum>2.</enum><header>Prohibition against United States recognition of the Russian Federation’s claim of sovereignty</header><subsection id="H08314CD607AF487190FE76DAA8CECF6E"><enum>(a)</enum><header>Statement of policy</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">It is the policy of the United States not to recognize the Russian Federation’s claim of sovereignty over any part of Ukraine (to include Crimea), its airspace, or its territorial waters.</text></subsection><subsection id="H03744ADF4C57479FA19948F09759F852"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Prohibition</header><text>In accordance with subsection (a), no Federal department or agency may take any action or extend any assistance that implies recognition of—</text><paragraph id="HB172E5298D5A4F4E9C3B5889E06045FA"><enum>(1)</enum><text>the Russian Federation’s claim of sovereignty over any part of Ukraine (to include Crimea), its airspace, or its territorial waters; and</text></paragraph><paragraph id="H27C7E0A4A5C54A7AA8B83D7132053D77"><enum>(2)</enum><text>the claims of sovereignty of the <quote>Donetsk People’s Republic</quote>, the <quote>Luhansk People’s Republic</quote>, or any other closely related successor entities.</text></paragraph></subsection></section></legis-body></bill>
