R. 6887</legis-num><current-chamber>IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES</current-chamber><action display="yes"><action-date date="20220301">March 1, 2022</action-date><action-desc><sponsor name-id="S001135">Mrs. Steel</sponsor> (for herself, <cosponsor name-id="W000806">Mr. Webster of Florida</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="M001215">Mrs. Miller-Meeks</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="G000061">Mr. Garcia of California</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="R000609">Mr. Rutherford</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="R000597">Mr. Rice of South Carolina</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="L000578">Mr. LaMalfa</cosponsor>, and <cosponsor name-id="C000059">Mr. Calvert</cosponsor>) introduced the following bill; which was referred to the <committee-name committee-id="HPW00">Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure</committee-name></action-desc></action><legis-type>A BILL</legis-type><official-title display="yes">To prohibit the owner or operator of a port in the United States to enter into a contract with certain entities for operation or management of such port.</official-title></form><legis-body id="HD8B6E02EA7844FA3854E3D83C4DDE5B2" style="OLC"><section id="HF8569AA1F0EC425AA6E1A7A9B75AE0BD" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Secure Our Ports Act of 2022</short-title></quote>.</text></section><section id="H1C93D9DB97944E6589CE485D6F108E65" section-type="subsequent-section"><enum>2.</enum><header>Prohibition on certain contracts for port operation and management</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">An owner or operator of a port in the United States may not enter into a contract for the operation or management of such port with an entity that is—</text><paragraph id="HCD264FDF6F2841508A58BEA70F0EB6EE"><enum>(1)</enum><text>a Chinese, Russian, North Korean, or Iranian state-owned enterprise; or</text></paragraph><paragraph id="HA46A3B70F09F47B5B2B18C92DD7139BA"><enum>(2)</enum><text>any foreign entity for which any percentage is owned by a country listed in paragraph (1).</text></paragraph></section></legis-body></bill>
