R. 681</legis-num><current-chamber>IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES</current-chamber><action display="yes"><action-date date="20210201">February 1, 2021</action-date><action-desc><sponsor name-id="Y000033">Mr. Young</sponsor> introduced the following bill; which was referred to the <committee-name committee-id="HJU00">Committee on the Judiciary</committee-name></action-desc></action><legis-type>A BILL</legis-type><official-title display="yes">For the relief of Rebecca Trimble.</official-title></form><legis-body id="HFB2F10A2AA8D461384891965C85B5CAF" style="OLC"><section id="HCD6A73C7C8184606A6157EF79ADE91D1" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Permanent resident status for Rebecca Trimble</header><subsection id="H56F9BF3E7C6645B1BB5B0319B41EA94A"><enum>(a)</enum><header>In general</header><text>Notwithstanding subsections (a) and (b) of section 201 of the <act-name parsable-cite="INA">Immigration and Nationality Act</act-name> (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/8/1151">8 U.S.C. 1151</external-xref>), Rebecca Trimble shall be eligible for the issuance of an immigrant visa or for adjustment of status to that of an alien lawfully admitted for permanent residence upon filing an application for issuance of an immigrant visa under section 204 of that Act (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/8/1154">8 U.S.C. 1154</external-xref>) or for adjustment of status to lawful permanent resident.</text></subsection><subsection id="H3B1E275FCFAE4E14A03B0087C620496C"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Adjustment of status</header><text>If Rebecca Trimble enters the United States before the filing deadline specified in subsection (c), Rebecca Trimble shall be considered to have entered and remained lawfully and shall be eligible for adjustment of status under section 245 of the <act-name parsable-cite="INA">Immigration and Nationality Act</act-name> (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/8/1255">8 U.S.C. 1255</external-xref>) as of the date of the enactment of this Act.</text></subsection><subsection id="HE33C65E3C3F64CEB9BD63AE9B0D0C96E"><enum>(c)</enum><header>Waiver of grounds for removal or denial of admission</header><paragraph id="H53C7F9CB84F246C7BEE6A7A75ADA2ED6"><enum>(1)</enum><header>In general</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Notwithstanding sections 212(a) and 237(a) of the Immigration and Nationality Act, Rebecca Trimble may not be removed from the United States, denied admission to the United States, or considered ineligible for lawful permanent residence in the United States by reason of any ground for removal or denial of admission that is reflected in the records of the Department of Homeland Security or the Visa Office of the Department of State on the date of the enactment of this Act.</text></paragraph><paragraph id="HEF3814EBAD3E4764BAD20911E2E8A684"><enum>(2)</enum><header>Rescission of outstanding order of removal</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The Secretary of Homeland Security shall rescind any outstanding order of removal or deportation, or any finding of inadmissibility or deportability, that has been entered against Rebecca Trimble by reason of any ground described in paragraph (1).</text></paragraph></subsection><subsection id="HA792B7D3CB22447EB1BD9A27B5A51713"><enum>(d)</enum><header>Application and payment of fees</header><text>Subsections (a) and (b) shall apply only if the application for issuance of immigrant visas or the application for adjustment of status are filed with appropriate fees within two years after the date of the enactment of this Act.</text></subsection><subsection id="HDF2C50AA698B4729A7926CDBA725BE20"><enum>(e)</enum><header>Reduction of immigrant visa numbers</header><text>Upon the granting of immigrant visas or permanent residence to Rebecca Trimble, the Secretary of State shall instruct the proper officer to reduce by one, during the current or next following fiscal year—</text><paragraph id="H77FE62B5E42A43FEB0614FBB44780FEF"><enum>(1)</enum><text>the total number of immigrant visas that are made available to natives of the country of birth of Rebecca Trimble under section 203(a) of the <act-name parsable-cite="INA">Immigration and Nationality Act</act-name> (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/8/1153">8 U.S.C. 1153(a)</external-xref>); or</text></paragraph><paragraph id="H18388EF6D4AE424589BB44E8E2C713F4"><enum>(2)</enum><text>if applicable, the total number of immigrant visas that are made available to natives of the country of birth of Rebecca Trimble under section 202(e) of that Act (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/8/1152">8 U.S.C. 1152(e)</external-xref>).</text></paragraph></subsection></section></legis-body></bill>
