R. 6674</legis-num><current-chamber>IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES</current-chamber><action display="yes"><action-date date="20220209">February 9, 2022</action-date><action-desc><sponsor name-id="G000589">Mr. Gooden of Texas</sponsor> introduced the following bill; which was referred to the <committee-name committee-id="HWM00">Committee on Ways and Means</committee-name></action-desc></action><legis-type>A BILL</legis-type><official-title display="yes">To prohibit the Internal Revenue Service from requiring individuals to submit biometric information or geolocation information to access online services, and for other purposes.</official-title></form><legis-body id="HE21C97763EE541E7A7D047DBC508CBAA" style="OLC"><section id="H2CECD9D647B94928B1CB3DFAE7AB2C87" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Prohibition on required use or collection of biometrics, geolocation data for access to online services</header><subsection id="H65DCFCCDA27B42B78002774C868AB15C"><enum>(a)</enum><header>In general</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The Secretary of the Treasury (or the Secretary’s delegate) may not establish or maintain any verification process for access to online accounts or services of the Internal Revenue Service which uses biometric information or geolocation information from mobile network operators.</text></subsection><subsection id="H661B0CF61AE44E9CAE19BDF031AA8335"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Collection prohibited without consent or warrant</header><text>The Secretary of the Treasury (or the Secretary’s delegate) may not collect, store, or share biometric information or geolocation information from mobile network operators without either express consent from the taxpayer to whom such information belongs or a court order. </text></subsection></section></legis-body></bill>
