which was referred to the <committee-name committee-id="HII00">Committee on Natural Resources</committee-name>, and in addition to the Committee on <committee-name committee-id="HAG00">Agriculture</committee-name>, for a period to be subsequently determined by the Speaker, in each case for consideration of such provisions as fall within the jurisdiction of the committee concerned</action-desc></action><legis-type>A BILL</legis-type><official-title display="yes">To require the Secretary of the Interior and the Secretary of Agriculture to develop long-distance bike trails on Federal land, and for other purposes.</official-title></form><legis-body id="H3053C6EED9424ACC8DD0C00794E41154" style="OLC"><section id="HC61EBC0D71F14D59AC8DCE3858498EBF" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Biking on Long-Distance Trails Act</short-title></quote>.</text></section><section id="H63608FDA58994F85B1E5209121E7D50F"><enum>2.</enum><header>Definitions</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">In this Act:</text><paragraph id="H6FC64C04C5EB4AD88A69AA30106EBE75"><enum>(1)</enum><header>Federal land</header><text>The term <term>Federal land</term> means—</text><subparagraph id="H50AF9035677D4C87AB2610EC48770247"><enum>(A)</enum><text>land under the jurisdiction of the Secretary; and</text></subparagraph><subparagraph id="HE8B9B8CE5C0A40D3833DAEC06E35A09E" commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline"><enum>(B)</enum><text>National Forest System land. </text></subparagraph></paragraph><paragraph id="H6CAAF07946D94008A011D469864756A2"><enum>(2)</enum><header>Long-distance bike trail</header><text>The term <term>long-distance bike trail</term> means a continuous route, consisting of 1 or more trails, that—</text><subparagraph id="H9F25739E0C4E4FD7A68108919C34AF40"><enum>(A)</enum><text>is not less than 80 miles in length on Federal land;</text></subparagraph><subparagraph id="H38DD1AB31F55425286E995376EC40C4E"><enum>(B)</enum><text>to the maximum extent practicable, makes use of existing trails and roads; and</text></subparagraph><subparagraph id="HDD6B636D49524DF69AF292D541BF8834" commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline"><enum>(C)</enum><text>may be used for mountain biking, road biking, touring, or gravel biking. </text></subparagraph></paragraph><paragraph id="HDBA1BA34E9A34A14BBC553FD5C5F2D38" commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline"><enum>(3)</enum><header>Secretary</header><text>The term <term>Secretary</term> means the Secretary of the Interior. </text></paragraph><paragraph id="HB2FA82DD4CDC4BE5A3C7781B9C0E6933"><enum>(4)</enum><header>Secretary concerned</header><text>The term <term>Secretary concerned</term> means—</text><subparagraph id="H36777A1100B64477970CF0146B42C0FA"><enum>(A)</enum><text>the Secretary, with respect to land under the jurisdiction of the Secretary; or</text></subparagraph><subparagraph id="H3D85C6A2AD0A4B2B932262712257F4BA" commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline"><enum>(B)</enum><text>the Secretary of Agriculture, with respect to National Forest System land. </text></subparagraph></paragraph></section><section id="H74F1D779BC4C481694A7666D3911C61A"><enum>3.</enum><header>Long-distance bike trails on federal land</header><subsection id="H7CA5BFD213E641B79A9FDD4700FE24D7"><enum>(a)</enum><header>Identification of long-Distance trails</header><text>The Secretaries concerned shall—</text><paragraph id="H936FF2BB2DF34B88816F8D024C9702A7"><enum>(1)</enum><text>identify not fewer than 10 long-distance bike trails, consistent with management requirements for the Federal land identified that make use of trails and roads in existence on the date of enactment of this Act; and</text></paragraph><paragraph id="H59DBD835ABF64F8EA052993BF8407D95"><enum>(2)</enum><subparagraph commented="no" display-inline="yes-display-inline" id="H358EA6B11C624A93841BF95210E74DC5"><enum>(A)</enum><text>identify not fewer than 10 areas in which there is an opportunity to develop or complete long-distance bike trails, consistent with the management requirements for the Federal land identified; and</text></subparagraph><subparagraph indent="up1" id="H15A5B1AA85434ADF8048E32D3BFE0ADE"><enum>(B)</enum><text>coordinate with stakeholders on the feasibility of, and identifying any resources necessary for, completing the development of the trails identified under subparagraph (A).</text></subparagraph></paragraph></subsection><subsection id="HF4055CEEB9DC4D9D882D9FC6610E1A27"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Maps, signage, and promotional materials</header><text>For any long-distance bike trail identified under subsection (a), the Secretary concerned may publish and distribute maps, install signage, and issue promotional materials.</text></subsection><subsection id="HDC21D0B336ED4040BFF6B109C8CF53C6"><enum>(c)</enum><header>Report</header><text>Not later than 2 years after the date of enactment of this Act, the Secretaries concerned, in partnership with interested organizations, shall prepare and publish a report that lists the trails identified under subsection (a). </text></subsection></section></legis-body></bill>
