Short title

This Act may be cited as the Term Extension for AmeriCorps Members Act.

2.

Waivers

Section 139(b) of the National and Community Service Act of 1990 (42 U.S.C. 12593(b)) is amended by adding at the end the following:(5)

Waivers for compelling purposes

(A)

Extension

A State Commission on National and Community Service for the State in which a national service program is being carried out may authorize, for compelling circumstances, an individual in an approved national service position may continue a service for more than 4 terms.(B)

Benefits

An individual performing service under this paragraph may continue to receive a living allowance and other benefits under section 12594 of this title but may not receive an additional national service educational award under section 12595 of this title..
