R. 5561</legis-num><current-chamber>IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES</current-chamber><action display="yes"><action-date date="20211012">October 12, 2021</action-date><action-desc><sponsor name-id="G000558">Mr. Guthrie</sponsor> (for himself and <cosponsor name-id="M001163">Ms. Matsui</cosponsor>) introduced the following bill; which was referred to the <committee-name committee-id="HIF00">Committee on Energy and Commerce</committee-name></action-desc></action><legis-type>A BILL</legis-type><official-title display="yes">To reauthorize a program for early detection, diagnosis, and treatment regarding deaf and hard-of-hearing newborns, infants, and young children, and for other purposes.</official-title></form><legis-body id="HA1B6EC59953E4B54885DC2E1E5BC1D20" style="OLC"><section id="H025E5E2175324FE0ACB5B2BB69D81393" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Early Hearing Detection and Intervention Act of 2021</short-title></quote>.</text></section><section id="HC5F918DCA488473D83217E243E7BAC4B"><enum>2.</enum><header>Reauthorization of program for early detection, diagnosis, and treatment regarding deaf and hard-of-hearing newborns, infants, and young children</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">Section 399M(f) of the Public Health Service Act (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/42/280g-1">42 U.S.C. 280g–1(f)</external-xref>) is amended—</text><paragraph id="HCE3551C341FD4B9C897FD7E5EFD43DAE"><enum>(1)</enum><text>in paragraph (1), by striking <quote>$17,818,000 for fiscal year 2018, $18,173,800 for fiscal year 2019, $18,628,145 for fiscal year 2020, $19,056,592 for fiscal year 2021, and $19,522,758 for fiscal year 2022</quote> and inserting <quote>$17,818,000 for each of fiscal years 2022 through 2026</quote>;</text></paragraph><paragraph id="HBC2EDF282460480E8F63C326E9778149"><enum>(2)</enum><text>in paragraph (2), by striking <quote>$10,800,000 for fiscal year 2018, $11,026,800 for fiscal year 2019, $11,302,470 for fiscal year 2020, $11,562,427 for fiscal year 2021, and $11,851,488 for fiscal year 2022</quote> and inserting <quote>$16,000,000 for each of fiscal years 2022 through 2026</quote>; and</text></paragraph><paragraph id="HF1B47486EA5E4E59A4047FCC398D6F14"><enum>(3)</enum><text>in paragraph (3), by striking <quote>fiscal years 2011 through 2015</quote> and inserting <quote>fiscal years 2022 through 2026</quote>. </text></paragraph></section></legis-body></bill>
