R. 5472</legis-num><current-chamber>IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES</current-chamber><action display="yes"><action-date date="20210930">September 30, 2021</action-date><action-desc><sponsor name-id="T000480">Mr. Timmons</sponsor> introduced the following bill; which was referred to the <committee-name committee-id="HBA00">Committee on Financial Services</committee-name></action-desc></action><legis-type>A BILL</legis-type><official-title display="yes">To amend title 31, United States Code, to limit the face value of coins.</official-title></form><legis-body id="HD1984DF00EDA45E48B8E59C2622FEC3C" style="OLC"><section section-type="section-one" id="HBC2C6A31396B46DB8FE27D4B1694BE34"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Cancel the Coin Act</short-title></quote>.</text></section><section id="HEE85E3158F4345E196A6CAFF4B0CE792"><enum>2.</enum><header>Limitation on face value of coins</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">Section 5112 of title 31, United States Code, is amended—</text><paragraph id="H173C3D8FCAE0404990F4343BE29BDDC4"><enum>(1)</enum><text>in subsection (k)—</text><subparagraph id="HF84C108F96ED48EFABFE0C85C2AE40B4"><enum>(A)</enum><text>by inserting <quote>having such nominal, or face, values as the Secretary may determine but not in any case exceeding $200</quote> after <quote>platinum coins</quote>; and</text></subparagraph><subparagraph id="H6449D61E9FCF454EAE6ED58269549B77"><enum>(B)</enum><text>by striking <quote>denominations,</quote>; and</text></subparagraph></paragraph><paragraph id="H962CB6C086314A9D820973A2C6568F2A"><enum>(2)</enum><text>by adding at the end the following new subsection:</text><quoted-block style="OLC" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="H7CD177EA625245D58AAF058294A113C5"><subsection id="H207DAC25B92C49088159FDBC32D3EC8D"><enum>(bb)</enum><header>Limitation on face value</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The Secretary may not mint or issue any coin having a nominal, or face, value exceeding $200.</text></subsection><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block></paragraph></section></legis-body></bill>
