which was referred to the <committee-name committee-id="HJU00">Committee on the Judiciary</committee-name></action-desc></action><legis-type>A BILL</legis-type><official-title display="yes">To amend title 36, United States Code, to designate a flag as the Purple Heart Flag.</official-title></form><legis-body id="HA4B1686BBE084E1B983541D70193BC84" style="OLC"><section id="H05EFAD05C0BD4DEA8016482FBE80340B" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Purple Heart Flag Act</short-title></quote>.</text></section><section id="H2A3B2A4F71C64D0494B3515FBD1A2925" section-type="subsequent-section"><enum>2.</enum><header>Designation of Purple Heart Flag</header><subsection id="HEC20D5F93D1C4A0E83397C96DF98DFC8"><enum>(a)</enum><header>Designation</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline"><external-xref legal-doc="usc-chapter" parsable-cite="usc-chapter/36/9">Chapter 9</external-xref> of title 36, United States Code, is amended by adding at the end the following new section:</text><quoted-block display-inline="no-display-inline" id="HFB73482BFE274D8D95E1DFAB5DCF0970" style="USC"><section id="HDE597035DAD24471B2D8CD426A7C5369"><enum>904.</enum><header>Purple Heart Flag</header><subsection id="H9915A3DCC4A94E9D8019D02740C0ED0C"><enum>(a)</enum><header>Designation</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">A flag that features the seal of the Military Order of the Purple Heart (adopted under section 140505 of this title) centered on a purple field is designated as the Purple Heart Flag.</text></subsection><subsection id="H15F9C50A95064E8EA2D6335219213766"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Public display required</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The Purple Heart Flag shall be displayed in a manner visible to the public—</text><paragraph id="HEA7DBEC767D24C90858D0CFA6C230119"><enum>(1)</enum><text>on days including those specified in subsection (c); and</text></paragraph><paragraph id="HCCC9EBD1BD94450E9E73013BC50122E1"><enum>(2)</enum><text>at locations including those specified in subsection (d).</text></paragraph></subsection><subsection id="HE29498EB57164AD7AB74F1F622B1BA61"><enum>(c)</enum><header>Days for display</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The days specified in this subsection are the following:</text><paragraph id="H2A2C82B4437C410A9F43768B5A0730E0"><enum>(1)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Armed Forces Day, the third Saturday in May.</text></paragraph><paragraph id="HFC1F4F08CF5F49A9B49DF542AFCECF73"><enum>(2)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Memorial Day, the last Monday in May.</text></paragraph><paragraph id="HF9F82C9CBBF6414D9DF6096DB0C6A23F"><enum>(3)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Flag Day, June 14.</text></paragraph><paragraph id="HBAB2D53F8D3F4855B2AAF2B7EC36B687"><enum>(4)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">National POW/MIA Recognition Day.</text></paragraph><paragraph id="H7741F962AAE3414AA34A0BEB5C178522"><enum>(5)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Veterans Day, November 11.</text></paragraph></subsection><subsection id="H9F5C3A28F7F44633943DD067CFC65F93"><enum>(d)</enum><header>Locations for display</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The locations specified in this subsection are the following:</text><paragraph id="H916D736B325749C0A808DB1807E8DBB7"><enum>(1)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The World War II Memorial, the Korean War Veterans Memorial, and the Vietnam Veterans Memorial.</text></paragraph><paragraph id="H44D50968797E4BC79BEFA8E398FD3D6F"><enum>(2)</enum><text>Each national cemetery.</text></paragraph><paragraph id="HD2652039163F4B4FBDD36E8B4360234B"><enum>(3)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The buildings containing the official office of—</text><subparagraph id="H7CF939F8E7F44FA1929FD0E50B5DDF54"><enum>(A)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">the Secretary of State;</text></subparagraph><subparagraph id="HF65B6840BA084376B848BFE04AF8726B"><enum>(B)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">the Secretary of Defense;</text></subparagraph><subparagraph id="H38F79A45D53E44C9B96FFDBC8D35625B"><enum>(C)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">the Secretary of Veterans Affairs; and</text></subparagraph><subparagraph id="H01249FCAE7E7401AB87104D92205EA49"><enum>(D)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">the Director of the Selective Service System.</text></subparagraph></paragraph><paragraph id="H4290DEB4109D4685800FE1C91DF58A3E"><enum>(4)</enum><text>Each medical center of the Department of Veterans Affairs.</text></paragraph></subsection></section><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block></subsection><subsection id="H603143B8317F4FAE91F18895C9FE29F5"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Clerical amendment</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The table of sections at the beginning of such chapter is amended by adding at the end the following new item:</text><quoted-block display-inline="no-display-inline" id="H8008E9D4DE4A48E5AFA207664D4CE05D" style="OLC"><toc regeneration="no-regeneration"><toc-entry level="section">904.
