R. 4754</legis-num><current-chamber>IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES</current-chamber><action display="yes"><action-date date="20210728">July 28, 2021</action-date><action-desc><sponsor name-id="D000619">Mr. Rodney Davis of Illinois</sponsor> (for himself, <cosponsor name-id="M001156">Mr. McHenry</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="B001305">Mr. Budd</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="S001213">Mr. Steil</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="S001172">Mr. Smith of Nebraska</cosponsor>, and <cosponsor name-id="L000583">Mr. Loudermilk</cosponsor>) introduced the following bill; which was referred to the <committee-name committee-id="HHA00">Committee on House Administration</committee-name></action-desc></action><legis-type>A BILL</legis-type><official-title display="yes">To establish a 30-day deadline for the Joint Committee on the Library to approve or disapprove requests and other actions relating to the procedures for the replacement of statues donated by States for display in National Statuary Hall.</official-title></form><legis-body id="HC8787CD7AEB64DD4B0D18142709333A3" style="OLC"><section id="HA99BA5DBD39D4832BDCE0A1146495DE1" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>National Statuary Hall Collection Progress Assurance Act</short-title></quote>. </text></section><section id="H2BB9EE99089C4AAEB398B50FA2C1D43C" section-type="subsequent-section"><enum>2.</enum><header>Deadline for Joint Committee on the Library to approve or disapprove requests and other actions relating to procedures for replacement of statues donated by States for display in National Statuary Hall</header><subsection id="HE1B94225795F48F38F70C4A3B393A8D8"><enum>(a)</enum><header>Deadline</header><text>Section 311 of the Legislative Branch Appropriations Act, 2001 (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/2/2132">2 U.S.C. 2132</external-xref>) is amended by adding at the end the following new subsection:</text><quoted-block style="traditional" id="H7B3E0404C6AD423BAC35BF8AD4ACEE2C" display-inline="no-display-inline"><subsection id="HBB4C5CCE7394406DAC7AE67E7CD0EDBE"><enum>(f)</enum><text>The Joint Committee on the Library shall approve or disapprove a request for the replacement of a statue under this section which is forwarded to the Joint Committee by the Architect of the Capitol, and shall approve or disapprove any other action relating to the replacement of a statue under this section which is subject to the approval of the Joint Committee and which is forwarded to the Joint Committee by the Architect of the Capitol—</text><paragraph id="H13380FDAF9C043008761F331D78D4498"><enum>(1)</enum><text>not later than 30 days after the Architect forwards the request or other information to the Joint Committee; or</text></paragraph><paragraph id="HD417EC9CC2F54BD9B87CDDA3DF80C285"><enum>(2)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">if the Architect forwards the request or other information during a Congress before the date of the first organizational meeting of the Joint Committee for the Congress, not later than 30 days after the Architect forwards the request or other information to the Joint Committee or the date of the meeting, whichever is later.</text></paragraph></subsection><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block></subsection><subsection id="H8C229B25081540C2B95238135F8E5324"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Effective date</header><text>The amendment made by subsection (a) shall apply with respect to requests which are forwarded to the Joint Committee on the Library by the Architect of the Capitol on or after the date of the enactment of this Act.</text></subsection></section></legis-body></bill>
