R. 4404</legis-num><associated-doc role="report" display="yes">[Report No. 117–414]</associated-doc><current-chamber>IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES</current-chamber><action display="yes"><action-date date="20210709">July 9, 2021</action-date><action-desc><sponsor name-id="S001200">Mr. Soto</sponsor> (for himself and <cosponsor name-id="B001260">Mr. Buchanan</cosponsor>) introduced the following bill; which was referred to the <committee-name committee-id="HII00">Committee on Natural Resources</committee-name></action-desc></action><action display="yes"><action-date date="20220718">July 18, 2022</action-date><action-desc>Reported with an amendment, committed to the Committee of the Whole House on the State of the Union, and ordered to be printed</action-desc><action-instruction>Strike out all after the enacting clause and insert the part printed in italic</action-instruction><action-instruction>For text of introduced bill, see copy of bill as introduced on July 9, 2021</action-instruction></action><action><action-desc><pagebreak></pagebreak></action-desc></action><legis-type>A BILL</legis-type><official-title display="yes">To amend the Wild and Scenic Rivers Act to designate segments of the Kissimmee River in the State of Florida as a component of the Wild and Scenic Rivers System, and for other purposes.<pagebreak></pagebreak></official-title></form><legis-body display-enacting-clause="yes-display-enacting-clause" changed="added" style="OLC" committee-id="HII00" reported-display-style="italic" id="H8B3A2E4ECC1C4DA89860138B84C6BA65"><section id="HE1421B7BEC924A7A8CBBCD2F192BD732" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Kissimmee River Wild and Scenic River Act</short-title></quote>.</text></section><section id="HEB5D19748D794F8DA8A5C3B1FF575CD8"><enum>2.</enum><header>Designation for study of wild and scenic river segments, Kissimmee River, Florida</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">Section 5(a) of the Wild and Scenic Rivers Act (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/16/1276">16 U.S.C. 1276(a)</external-xref>) is amended by adding at the end the following:</text><quoted-block id="H4945B3804D0B4C0CA8BC618F8EE2D145" style="OLC" changed="added" reported-display-style="italic" committee-id="HII00"><paragraph id="H47B71402B4544BE58A2CF6D70C727CB2"><enum>(__)</enum><header>Kissimmee River, Florida</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The restored segment of the Kissimmee River, beginning approximately 16 miles downstream of Lake Kissimmee and ending approximately 15 miles upstream of Lake Okeechobee.</text></paragraph><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block></section><section id="H0C84BF4118294A01AF37BA0AC3ADA034"><enum>3.</enum><header>Studies and reports</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">Section 5(b) of the Wild and Scenic Rivers Act (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/16/1276">16 U.S.C. 1276(b)</external-xref>) is amended by adding at the end the following:</text><quoted-block id="H9786F6C3828846BA871483F2BBE2AADF" style="OLC" changed="added" reported-display-style="italic" committee-id="HII00"><paragraph id="H16F87B371A1B4D789364FCFD6906E5B8"><enum>(__)</enum><header>Kissimmee River, Florida</header><text>Not later than 3 years after the date on which funds are made available to carry out this paragraph, the Secretary of the Interior shall—</text><subparagraph id="HF05E5A3DD1FA487E8619D63545A93FCC"><enum>(A)</enum><text>complete the study of the Kissimmee River, Florida named in paragraph (_) of subsection (a); and</text></subparagraph><subparagraph id="H37DEA40AF0F146E7899C51ADD2CA6312"><enum>(B)</enum><text>submit to the Committee on Natural Resources of the House of Representatives and the Committee on Energy and Natural Resources of the Senate a report that describes the results of the study.</text></subparagraph></paragraph><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block></section><section id="H8FFCF1C1686E4B4EBDC9C798B2A3335B"><enum>4.</enum><header>Effect on management</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act and the amendments made by this Act shall not interfere with the current management of the area of the Kissimmee River described in section 5(a)(_) of the Wild and Scenic Rivers Act, nor shall the fact that such area is listed for study under the Wild and Scenic Rivers Act (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/16/1271">16 U.S.C. 1271 et seq.</external-xref>) be used as justification for more restrictive management until Congress acts on the study recommendations.</text></section></legis-body><endorsement display="yes"><action-date date="20220718">July 18, 2022</action-date><action-desc>Reported with an amendment, committed to the Committee of the Whole House on the State of the Union, and ordered to be printed</action-desc></endorsement></bill>
