R. 4400</legis-num><current-chamber>IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES</current-chamber><action display="yes"><action-date date="20210709">July 9, 2021</action-date><action-desc><sponsor name-id="R000599">Mr. Ruiz</sponsor> (for himself, <cosponsor name-id="S001208">Ms. Slotkin</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="W000815">Mr. Wenstrup</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="G000574">Mr. Gallego</cosponsor>, and <cosponsor name-id="W000800">Mr. Welch</cosponsor>) introduced the following bill; which was referred to the <committee-name committee-id="HVR00">Committee on Veterans' Affairs</committee-name></action-desc></action><legis-type>A BILL</legis-type><official-title display="yes">To expand the scope of the Department of Veterans Affairs open burn pit registry.</official-title></form><legis-body id="H8B6DDC747124471C9C746AF12A723014" style="OLC"><section id="HB070D638A871463CA7BF5E993FBEFA37" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Burn Pit Registry Expansion Act</short-title></quote>. </text></section><section id="H93D45E0635E44667980229C9C576B770" section-type="subsequent-section"><enum>2.</enum><header>Expansion of scope of Department of Veterans Affairs open burn pit registry to include open burn pits in Egypt and Syria</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">Section 201(c)(2) of the Dignified Burial and Other Veterans’ Benefits Improvement Act of 2012 (<external-xref legal-doc="public-law" parsable-cite="pl/112/260">Public Law 112–260</external-xref>; <external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/38/527">38 U.S.C. 527</external-xref> note) is amended, in the matter before subparagraph (A), by striking <quote>or Iraq</quote> and inserting <quote>, Iraq, Egypt, or Syria</quote>.</text></section></legis-body></bill>
