R. 4188</legis-num><current-chamber>IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES</current-chamber><action display="yes"><action-date date="20210625">June 25, 2021</action-date><action-desc><sponsor name-id="S001165">Mr. Sires</sponsor> (for himself, <cosponsor name-id="G000577">Mr. Graves of Louisiana</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="G000559">Mr. Garamendi</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="L000593">Mr. Levin of California</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="A000378">Mrs. Axne</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="M000312">Mr. McGovern</cosponsor>, and <cosponsor name-id="S001204">Mr. San Nicolas</cosponsor>) introduced the following bill; which was referred to the <committee-name committee-id="HFA00">Committee on Foreign Affairs</committee-name></action-desc></action><legis-type>A BILL</legis-type><official-title display="yes">To amend the Peace Corps Act to allow former volunteers and officers and employees to use the seal, emblem, or name of Peace Corps on death announcements and grave stones.</official-title></form><legis-body id="HBB99E596F0E4417C967BB6D6E55E5133" style="OLC"><section id="HC4E4C980B03943AEB35DCE1230C6D291" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Respect for Peace Corps Volunteers Act</short-title></quote>.</text></section><section id="HF23BC11F5257423C86C3B95983BCD831"><enum>2.</enum><header>Use of official seal, emblem, and name of the Peace Corps</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">Subsection (b) of section 19 of the Peace Corps Act (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/22/2518">22 U.S.C. 2518</external-xref>) is amended—</text><paragraph id="HC8B0F39FE98C44379A20858FE6D5129B"><enum>(1)</enum><text>in paragraph (1), by inserting before the period at the end the following: <quote>, except that the official seal or emblem and the name <quote>Peace Corps</quote> may be used on any death announcement, gravestone, plaque, or other grave marker of any person who served as a volunteer or as an officer or employee of the Peace Corps under such rules as may be prescribed by the Director</quote>; and</text></paragraph><paragraph id="H5001987A74C54883B7EE0EBA983E72DE"><enum>(2)</enum><text>in paragraph (2), in the first sentence, by inserting <quote>or in accordance with the exception specified in paragraph (1),</quote> before <quote>shall be fined</quote>.</text></paragraph></section></legis-body></bill>
