R. 4034</legis-num><current-chamber>IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES</current-chamber><action display="yes"><action-date date="20210622">June 22, 2021</action-date><action-desc><sponsor name-id="B001292">Mr. Beyer</sponsor> introduced the following bill; which was referred to the <committee-name committee-id="HWM00">Committee on Ways and Means</committee-name></action-desc></action><legis-type>A BILL</legis-type><official-title display="yes">To ensure that pre-apprenticeship programs are considered when planning health professions opportunity grant career pathway demonstration projects.</official-title></form><legis-body id="H1D2EE004E429418BB5334FD8060FCAC2" style="OLC"><section id="H96D4F48AE7F448E09AFA372E5FCB2D53" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Pre-apprenticeship Promotion Act</short-title></quote>.</text></section><section id="H974E3BBCDD3B4A89B34C11087FF67E8F"><enum>2.</enum><header>Pre-apprenticeship programs required to be considered in planning health professions opportunity grant career pathway demonstration projects</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">Section 2008 of the Social Security Act (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/42/1397g">42 U.S.C. 1397g</external-xref>) is amended by redesignating subsections (c) and (d) as subsections (d) and (e), respectively, and by inserting after subsection (b) the following:</text><quoted-block display-inline="no-display-inline" id="HFA61D0EF0835431087BBE30636C37FFF" style="OLC"><subsection id="HDD71BE89194F46CBBD3941B5D5D29040"><enum>(c)</enum><header>Pre-Apprenticeship programs required To be considered in planning demonstration projects</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">An application for a grant for a demonstration project under this section shall include a certification by the applicant that the development of the project included consideration of apprenticeship and pre-apprenticeship models registered under the Act of August 16, 1937 (also known as the <quote>National Apprenticeship Act</quote>).</text></subsection><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block></section><section id="HCD8B7E72A27942CFAB034144BC7D9EB7"><enum>3.</enum><header>Effective date</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">The amendments made by this Act shall take effect on October 1, 2021.</text></section></legis-body></bill>
